. . . but a werewolf cannot run as fast as a quad. A bit unsportsman like of him to use one.

Necro time again I watched Wild Country on Prime. Low budget and flawed in some ways, but overall not bad at all. To get the flaws out of the way: The creature look could have been considerably better. It looked more like a guy in some kind of bear costume walking on all fours. But with one brief exception it was all practical and that is a good thing. Also, too much of the movie is in the dark. OK that part was supposed to be about getting chased by the creature at night but it was too dark, enough to be annoying. Good stuff: Acting and dialog were surprisingly good for low budget. Most of the cast had little or no prior experience in movies which made the acting that much more impressive. Of special note was how convincing they all were at being scared. Good gore - intestines and other body parts and really gushing carotid artery blood. Clever ending very subtly foreshadowed. I caught the import of the key scene when it happened but it goes by quickly and might be missed by others. (Obsessive ya know ) It is not just a 'surprise' ending, although the surprise is led up to nicely and not a sudden 'jump'. It is also an unexpected resolution of life choices for Final Girl and not just something out of left field. If you watch this movie, don't over analyze the back story of the creature. Werewolf? Surely. Conventional? Not exactly. Bottom line: Keep expectations within budget and enjoy. Closing thought: Way back when (Fifty years ago in fact! Holy crap!) I worked with a team of computer programmers from Scotland. They all talked like the people in this movie.
