I checked out Eat Locals. Very enjoyable vampire flick. Fine story, good acting and dialog, perfect ending. Thanks for the tip silverbullet!
At the end of the credits it says that Eat Global is coming soon but I cannot find any reference to such a movie.

Blood and Donuts (1995) Different kind of vampire movie. Vampire apparently trying to escape living forever hides away to sleep but is accidentally woken after 25 years. Although described as horror comedy, it is not exactly either. Oh it is about a vampire alright, but he does not want to drink human blood anymore. And there are funny parts but on the whole it is closer to tragic. The subplot about gangsters is rather silly but serves to lighten the mood somewhat, keeping things from getting too heavy. And Earl...both an important part of the plot and really annoying. While an admirable attempt at depicting both the desire for immortality on the part of mortals and the terror of living forever as a vampire, in the end the story is less than fully satisfying. Worth a watch if you have a desire to see all forms of vampire movie. However it leaves Prime at the end of January, little more than a week away.

The Influence (2019) Spanish with English subtitles
Um...what just happened? I found myself saying that very often during this movie. It is not that nothing happens. All kinds of unrelated and even contradictory things happening at once. Not especially scary and the suspense consists mainly of waiting for something to make sense in a larger coherent context. At the end of the movie, I again said - Um...what just happened?

Amityville Horror (2005) This remake is exactly that, very closely following the 1979 original with few differences. I never cared all that much for the original and the same for the remake. IMO there is a thread of something wrong that runs through both versions. IMO scares seem somehow too obviously placed and not all that scary. Again IMO, the backstory is confused. Is the malevolent force from the Native American spirits or the spirit of the evil missionary? If the latter, why the anti-religion activities? If the former, what does the missionary have to do with it? I see that the remake includes a horror movie meme that the original did not, a meme that I believe it is time to drop. The family dog gets killed. Irrelevant aside: The lNew York State license plates on the family's car and the realtor's car are of the proper form for the time frame of the story. However, eagle-eyed, obsessive-minded yours truly checked out the county codes embedded in the plate numbers. The realtor's car is registered in Westchester county and the family's car is registered in Rockland county, both north of New York City and quite far away from Suffolk county on eastern Long Island where the story takes place. I guess those were the only plates in good condition that they could dig up some 30 years later. End of today's trivia factoid.

The Witch (2015)
Witchcraft 17th century New England style. Isolated family exiled for religious disagreement. Stolen baby, mysterious black goat, and of course witches in the woods. Unusual story, pretty good development, neat ending.

Ghost Light (2018)
Never say the name of 'The Play Scottish' in a theater except in the context of performing the play. And always keep the Ghost Light burning. The Ghost Light is a lamp placed on the stage and kept lit when the stage is not in use. It is (a) a precaution against someone getting hurt in a dark theater and (b) a way of keeping the ghosts away. Two strikes already early in the movie. Jealousy, infidelity, incompetent but rich lead actor and some oddball characters make for entertainment on the way as things slowly get weirder. And when the play itself starts, things get really weird.

Dead Ant (2017) Aging metal band trying to make a comeback attacked by giant ants in the desert after violating Native American taboo. As silly as it sounds and reveling in it. Definitely NOT to be taken seriously. FX (CGI and some practical) mostly not too bad. Acting is intentionally dumb. Dialog likewise. But both feed the humor nicely. Songs are pretty good for the genre. Some cute running gags. And of course gratuitous scantily clad babes. Cast includes Tom Arnold, Michael Horse (Native American sheriff from Twin Peaks 2017 among other things), the always welcome Danny Woodburn (Seinfeld and loads of other stuff) and Sean Astin the taboo breaker and first casualty Not a bad way to waste time as long as you keep your sense of humor up front. L'Inferno (1911) www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRUkyHvsvfgA pretty decent print of this adaptation of Dante's Inferno. Creepy imagery and surprisingly good FX for 1911. I suggest turning the sound off since the added score kinda sucks and is not really related to the film.

Conan the Barbarian (1982)
A long time favorite of mine since I first saw it in the movies. Arnold Schwarzenegger did a surprisingly good acting job. James Earl Jones did a terrific job (of course) as the arch villain. Nice plot, cleverly developed, good FX, fine ending. Good sexy stuff as well.
I was actually looking for Godzilla: King of the Monsters which was supposed to be on HBO already but is not. I wanted to see what Millie Bobby Brown could do in a different context from Stranger Things. I saw that Conan was going away soon and watched it.
Conan the Destroyer (1984)
If 'Barbarian' had the feel of a graphic novel for adults, 'Destroyer' is a comic book for kids. Plot, development etc. – comic book for sure. The cast was in full comic book mode: Pumped up Arnold for starters, Mako as the hammy dueling wizard, Wilt (the Stilt) Chamberlain surprisingly competent as ‘the other’ strong guy, Sarah Douglas inventing her patented bad girl act, Grace Jones was … Grace Jones.
Fun diversion but not something I would watch too often.

Doom: Annihilation (2019) A remake of a flop movie based on a video game. Not sure why I decided to watch this. Marginally passable entertainment. Action scenes are overdone but after all it was based on an action video game. 'Human' scenes are less than satisfying. Demons of several kinds are OK, practical (rather iffy) or CGI depending on type. Very unsatisfying end. All of that action and humanity will still get wiped out by the demons? Also I do not see much justification for all the action and most events prior to that. How does that fit into the big picture? Oh that's right, it's a video game. The action IS the point.

Kim Possible (2019)
"Heroes Kim and Ron face the problems of starting high school as freshmen when their team gets an addition. Every hero needs a villain and one's just been sprung from prison. Will Kim save the world again or will high school bog her down?" - IMDb
Yes, the live-action Disney movie based on the cartoon from 2002-2007. I'd watch it every once in a while and liked it well enough to give this a shot before canceling Disney+. Taking into account what it is and who the target audience is (i.e., not really me) it wasn't an awful way to kill some time on a cold/rainy day.
Interesting timing on my part as Todd Stashwick, who played the cartoonish (obviously) villain in this just finished up a run as a more serious villain on the S.W.A.T. series.
Midsomer Murders: Death and the Divas (2013)
"A film historian writing about a 1960s horror actress is killed in her home. It becomes the start of what appears to be a series of copycat murders based on the actress's films." - IMDb
Okay, technically this is just an episode of the series (season 15, episode 4) but since it's an hour and a half long I counted it as a movie.
I've never watched the series before, but I saw Caroline Munro was listed in the credits and I have a thing for her and also movies/TV shows/etc. that exist only in other movies/TV shows/etc. so I had to check it out. Enjoyed it but I don't think I'm going to try and catch up on the whole 20-some-odd seasons of the show anytime soon.
Some fun "clips" from the Hammer-style movies the character starred in, one of which contained all of Munro's minute or so of screen time.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) Finally on HBO! Talk about a monster mash! Godzilla, Monster Zero (aka King Ghidora), Rodan, Mothra with a dozen or so others in supporting roles. Very interesting story line that in some ways harks back to the original Gojira but at the same time is also very new and fresh. Terrific FX, lots of monster action and also lots of science fiction and military gear and stuff. Fine ending. Acting and dialog are all good, with Millie Bobby Brown doing just fine in a 'not El' role and a major player in the plot development.
If you like kaiju, do not miss this.
