It's such a shame, the Rick Baker's costume looks so much better.
I'm starting to think, that film studios, when they commission a werewolf film, look through their records for someone that doesn't like werewolf films and than gives them decision making authority over many of the films aspects. It's the only explanation I can think of.

It was not just the silly werewolf effects that turned me off. It was most of the movie. I love werewolf movies and I love Christina Ricci. So what happened? A summary of the plot sounds like it should be a really good one. But it never gave me any reason to buy into it. The references to old time memes esp. The Wolf Man (1941) should have given me a head start on liking it. Instead they pointed out how poorly Cursed fared in comparison. The high school references just underscored how much better teenage/werewolf angst (aren't they so alike? ) was handled in I Was A Teenage Werewolf.

When Jenny was killed.

Cursed could have been so much better. Just read the plot outline in Wikipedia. Craven and Ricci? How could this miss? Where did it go wrong? Other than confused direction, PG-13 evisceration of the gore and just plain wrong headedness about how to connect the pieces, that is.

Plus at one point they totally scrapped the Original cast they had, except for Ricci and Eisenberg.
What a mess, similar to the two Exorcist Prequels, remember that?

I sure do remember them. But at least the reasons were obvious for them being bad. They were trying to cash in on the Exorcist name and were not concerned terribly much with plot and talent etc. Cursed did not have that excuse. Plot and talent were there. Earlier I called the direction confused but I did not mean to blame director Wes Craven. It was really the heavy handed interference from the producers - reshoots, messing with the plot and more - that made the direction ineffective. Producers should stick to their jobs - arranging for the picture to be made and supporting that effort - and let everyone else do their jobs. Aside: During the making of The Ten Commandments, Charlton Heston (Moses) said to director Cecil B. DeMille, “I am going to do this scene in such and such a way. Is that alright?” DeMille replied “Don’t ask me. You’re the actor." While abstaining from telling Charlton Heston how to act is clearly the right thing to do, the general principle should always apply.

I found Schrader's Exorcist prequel the better of the two.
Far from perfect, but did a better job focusing on Merrin's loss of faith in God.
Renny Harlin was out of his element and it showed in Exorcist :The Beginning.
Neither one can touch Exorcist 3, which is better than most give it credit for IMHO.

I think I was confusing Exorcist II: The Heretic as being a prequel. It was of course a sequel. But they should not have bothered. IMO it simply sucked and could not be saved even with old pros like Burton and Henreid on hand. But even then, it was (again IMO) not half the train wreck that Exorcist: The Beginning was.
I had trouble getting into Dominion. Better than the aforementioned two to be sure. But it simply did not grab me. Apparently a lot of people felt that way.
Exorcist III (too bad it had to be saddled with that number) was quite good, if not in the same league as the original. I understand Blatty got interfered with by the suits while directing. So maybe it could have been even better.

Yes, he was. They insisted on that possession scene with Karras, Father Morning and Kinderman at the end. ' That did seem a bit awkward. I understand that there is a sort of Director's Cut with a different ending with George C. Scott as a key player. Got to check that out.

Yeah, released by Scream Factory in 2016.
Haven't seen it yet but heard it's more true to Blatty's original vision.
