I remember this series fondly. Not truly great but enjoyable. The title character only sometimes transformed, at full moon time of course. Much more often it was about whatever supernatural happenings they chose for the current episode,
IMO the episodes made in the UK were better than the later ones made in the US. Somewhere on this site there is a discussion of werewolf stories made in the UK being superior so here is another example. In this case I think the main factor was a limited budget for the US episodes.
