In the UK there is a two part Triffid miniseries starting this Christmas. I think it's on Monday and Tuesday 28th/29th.
It's set in the near future where fuel sources has been running out and they've been harvesting Triffid oils as a fuel source. - at least I think that's what it said.

I enjoyed the original Day of the Triffids, so that is something to look out for.

I liked how they had the triffids looking, with their vines/tenticle feel to their root system.
Eddie played his character well too.
