Yes, we have another remake of a film. This time it's Stephen King's Children of the Corn.
The remake was done last year by the sci-fi channel as a TV Movie.
According to what I've read about it so far, two things seem to be mentioned the most.
1/ It's a closer rendition of the original short story. 2/ It's not as good as the original film.
So far it's only available as a region 1 DVD, but I've bought it anyway, and should have it in two weeks.
With it being a sci-fi channel movie I expect it's budget will have been fairly low, so I'm not expecting a lot of cool effects.
One of the main reasin people don't seem to like it, is the fact the two lead characters are unlikeable, as they whine and argue with each other (which fits in with the short story, as the couple was supposed to be in a failing marriage).
It's set in the 70's rather than modern day.
I hope the kid they have playing Isaac can do it as good as the one from the original, but from the preview I don't think he will. For one thing he's got a silly hat (which others have referred to as his Lord Helmet hat - from spaceballs).
So I await the film with moderate expectations.
. . . Oh, and according to rumour, this is not the last remake of Children of the Corn - according to the web, another one is planned by a large film studio as one of their big horror films - don't know which studio or if it's even true or not.

Watched this film now. And their right, it's not as good as the original. Several things were wrong with it:
It's lost nearly all it's creepiness, which was the best part of the old film. Malaci (sp) Just didn't feel that dangerous and "on the edge". Isaac was no way near creepy or persuasive enough. he came across rather clumsy.
The arguing between the husband and wife often felt very unrealistic and forced.
But, saying that, it is still a watchable film, though don't rush out to buy it.

Don't fancy it at all to be honest.
