I know this ain't gonna remotely fit in, but I like this line alot, from Windows: "I haven't been able to reach shit in two weeks! I doubt if anybody has talked to anybody on this entire continent, and you want me to reach somebody!"
This whole thread is startin' to push me towards an inevitable viewing of the movie. I can see it happening, like, real soon, guys.

What do you mean you have a note from your mum saying you don't have to have a picture on your passport?
And don't worry, nothing but an american will be able to find his way through that storm now I've cut the rope.

I wonder if The Thing will sparkle when set on fire and fall in love with a droopy human teenager.
Anecdote time: In the original short story The Thing reproduced asexually but could shape its offspring to look like the people it ate. It wasn't the infectious creature seen in the John Carpenter version. Also, in one of the first drafts of the remake script, The Thing was like a giant crab that attached itself to it's host's head and used illusions and mind control to hide itself.

Out of interest guys, at the end of the orginal who was your money on? MacReady or Childs?

Good question.
I'd probably guess that both of them had been infected with the Thing, though neither of them fully transformed, as only a few cells of the Thing would have reached them. By the time the rescue got there, both of them would be full converted. Though you'd only be lead to suspect it was one of them, that way you can have a surprise head bursting into flower like petal monster.

You see i would have been more interested to see a sequel to the Thing. Perhaps a rescue crew coming into find out what happened and finding both Childs and MacReady both still alive and both saying that the other is the infected one. Then right at the end all would be revealed........
