The original is an excellent and original film & after watching that I feel no need to watch a rather pointless remake to be honest.

I've a slightly different opinion. I find it very difficult to watch a film with subtitles.
I either miss half of what's said or half of what's happening as I constantly flick from looking at the pictures to reading the text. Flicking from one to the other also stops me from becoming absorbed in the film.
Now, hollywood does have a habit of changing such films when the remake them, normally to the detrement of the film - often loosing the keen edge that made the film good in the first place. If their going to do this, they should do a faithful remake, keeping the atmosphere and feelings of the original.

I know what you mean Marcus but as you said Hollywood have a knack of really spoiling great original movies by removing all the quirks & originality that make them great movies to begin with. I think the only "re-imagining" I have watched that I thought was superior to the original was BATMAN others like the FOG for example were that bad it hurt to watch them. Im terrified of the upcoming AWIL & the Howling !!!!

oh, I'm very worried about Howling remake. I pretty much groaned in dispair when I read the following synopses for the howling remake - Sounds more like a teen wolf remake to me!!
"Young reporter - named Karen White - meeting up with a serial killer who is stalking her. In this version, however, there are no cops who burst in on the scene: she’s confronted and murdered by the killer, who of course turns out to be a werewolf. Only hook is, she was pregnant, and the baby lives… Cut to years later, and Karen’s son - Will - is attending a high-profile prep school, where he’s having weird dreams and the like. Naturally, he’s got wolfy tendencies, and - shock! - so do his friends. Does Will join the dark side (naturally, his friends turn out to be bad news), or fight against his urges and battle his hairy classmates?"
