I've been enjoying it a lot too! Epic fantasy on TV has almost always fallen flat in the past, but boy did they get it right this time. It even has wolf theme to it, what with the dire wolves and all!

Well, over in the UK it's on Sky Atlantic, if that helps.
Plus the next book in the novel series is FINALLY due out soon - Yay!!
I have been impressed with the adaptation. Both in look and pacing. The actors/actresses each have suited the parts they've been playing. I hope they do a full series, adapting all the books, 1 per season.
I know that they have commisioned a 2nd series, almost before the 1st one had aired on TV.

Got to say that the last episode was amazing & I cant wait for the second series.........I havent read the books but what I got from the tv adaption was that the "Game of Thrones" was just a Prologue to the the whole story. The last 10mins was awsome & has set things up brilliantly for the next series.

I had to miss the last episode So now I have to wait till it's released on DVD before i can see it. Annoyingly unlike most series, the DVD hasn't been given a release date a week or two after the last episode of the season, or even any release date yet, grrrr.

Considering some of the stuff that happened, I think I'm glad I didn't read the books first. Some nice surprises in the series.

The books are great. One of my favourite set, and well worth reading - though they are large books so the story is a little slower than in the tv series.
I've heard that the episodes they've shown are only the 1st half of the series, though I don't know how accurate that bit of info is - though HBO do tend to have series that run to 20 or so episodes, so that makes me think what I heard could be right.

I finished the first book last night & the series pretty much sticks quite accurately to the book. There are a few differences & obviously the book goes into a bit more detail regarding certain characters but all in all its a pretty faithful adaption. I cant wait a year until "A Clash of Kings" from HBO so I went out and bought the rest of the books & have started them today........"Game of Thrones" was an excellent read !!!!

I watched it on Sky Atlantic & it showed all 10 episodes...............??
I'm on part 2 of Book 3 now & I literally cant put them down.........Easily the best series of books I have ever read & I have books 4 & 5 arriving today from Amazon.......!!!!
The direwolves have featured alot so far and the twists & turns are brilliant. Epic really is an understatement

Did some more research and season 1 is only 10 episodes. But season 2 had been commissioned and should be with us next year.
It's been that long I don't remember if the ending of season 1 finishes at the same 'time' as the ending in book 1.
I got Book 5 delivered yesterday, only problem is, it's been that long coming out, I don't remember most of what happened in the previous books. Also Book five starts at the end of book 3 and the first half runs parallel to the story in book 4, only dealing with the main characters which book for missed out.
I'm thinking I'll have to stop, go back and read from book 2 again before going on with book 5.
