The plot line doesn't do much for me. It reads like it'll be at most a 15 cert. I much prefer my werewolves to be the villians of the film or the tragic hero. This one reads pretty much like a gang film that they decided to just throw in the werewolf part as colouring.

Here's the trailer. Looks silly and cheesy...but kinda fun. I like the various wolfmen/woman. Also the writer/director is David Hayter who co-wrote X-Men and X2 so he gets the benefit of the doubt from me.

In my New York abode (I have several) there is a Fear channel that shows up on the guide but for obscure technical reasons is not available to me even though I pay for the premium channel group it is part of.

Yeah, we in the UK have had a Horror Channel on cable/satellite since 2004. It's been re-branded a couple of times and was sold to CBS Studios International in 2009. It's gotten better over recent years with a fair few quality films and TV series regularly being shown amongst the bargain bin rubbish filling most of its schedule.

Some quality amid the rubbish? The Horror Channel sounds like the SyFy channel over here.
But to return to the topic at hand...
I sincerely hope Wolves does not turn out to be like the Twilight series. That paradigm just does not work for me. But maybe the 'old' werewolf paradigm does not work for the current audiences.

The horror channel is very hit and miss. My biggest bugbare with it is it will cut a horror movie of all the horror in order to show films through the day sometimes! But on the plus side the very hot Emily Booth is a presenter on there.
Having seen the trailer i'm now torn. I don't like the design of the werewolf, it looks to have too much teen angst (i just can't be arsed with that) and at first i thought it was going to be some violent version of Teen Wolf! However.... It does start the absolutely fantastic Stephen McHattie. His man's acting alone convinced me to give PontyPool a second chance. Don't know if anyone has seen PontyPool? Its a "zombie" movie where the infection is somehow spread through language rather a bite, etc. Hated the film first time i saw it. I like my zombie movies full of blood and gore so this was just seemed odd. But loved Stephen's character so watched it again and now i really like it.
However back to the point in hand, Stephen Hattie, again seems to be a standout in the trailer. And since i like him so much i'd put money on him not surviving the film!

I recall when Night of the Living Dead (1968) was first shown on TV here. This was sometime in the late 1970s at maybe 2 AM on a Sunday morning. Not only was all of the good stuff cut out, but at one point where the zombies are reaching into the burned car, they actually flashed 'SIMULATION' on the screen. That same station (CBS if I remember right) also showed a much cut version of Monty Python's Holy Grail. Among other omissions, the Black Knight scene was completely gone!

Great original concept. Love it. And I'm so with you re. Stephen McHattie. A very fine actor indeed.

Stephen McHattie is brilliant. Very underrated actor. I looked up Stephen McHattie and realized that I have seen him a million times but never grasped that this was all one person. Yes, he is a really good actor who rarely got much of a part.

The latest issue of Famous Monsters has a nice long article with lots of detailed pics. Wolves is also one of the covers (the other is a great Big Trouble in Little China cover).

Just watched it. Its a goofy coming of age/adolescent angst werewolf flick with hardly any blood and guts. The script/story is by the numbers - young boy discovers he is different, bad stuff happens, he goes on run looking for his roots and discovers a small isolated town whose inhabitants can get decidedly hairy. Secrets are uncovered, the boy falls in love, and a big fight looms. It's nothing remotely original but its fast paced, the cast are good, David Hayter directs stylishly and the werewolf design/make-up is nicely old school and funky in a Wolfman kinda away. Enjoyable enough tosh.

Pretty much totally agree.
Jason Momoa seems like he's having a blast with it and that helps.
Nothing super original (the whole 'town wolves vs. wild wovles' kinda reminded me of SKINWALKERS) but well done all around. Might not have had a huge budget, but it looked like the money was on the screen.
IMDb says it's R rated but I swear it looked like some f-bombs were overdubbed and was generally cut down to a PG-13 level.
