Came across this on Fangoria: fangoria.com/news_article.php?id=5608www.syntheticcinema.com/They say there's a 'MINI-resurgence' of the werewolf genre going on ... obviously they aren't aware of the dozen or so other werewolf movies in the making. ;D “First off, UNDERWORLD sparked our interest to produce the movie and bring werewolves back to audiences. However, LYCAN has roots in the classic werewolf films like Universal Studios used to produce, when they were in their infancy.” Other entries in the genre hold sway over LYCAN as well: “We're planning to include the visual style and mood of GINGER SNAPS and the comedy and speed of AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, with a contemporary twist to the storyline.” If it's still on schedule, it should have started shooting last month.

Sounds cool, but if it's that low budget it won't come to a cinema near me. I can't remember what the name of the other movie was (Wild Country???) That never came to the cinema near me even though it was advertised. I guess i'll either have to wait to it comes out on DVD or hits sky.

I can't wait until Wild Country comes out on DVD...out of all the slick, big budget werewolf movies and cheap-looking low budget ones coming out, this one looks to be like it could be really enjoyable. I know some of the reviews have been mixed, but with DVD release in the US, it could breathe new life into it, as with Ginger Snaps and Dog Soldiers. My only complaint is the "wolf" looks like a wild boar, but he does look kinda creepy.

True, I'm still waiting to see "wild country" as well, I think it was only screened up in Scotland and at some festivals. I'm not sure what kind of a release "Lycan" is getting, maybe straight-to-DVD. I've e-mailed them for more info, waiting to hear back.

Just heard back from the director, Andrew Gernhard. He says filming is scheduled to begin in the first weekend of May. I think the studios previous movies were all straight-to-DVD, so I'm guessing "Lycan" might be the same.

That's half the problem, all these new werewolf movies are heading straight for DVD. How come? Cursed got a airing on the cinema and Dog Soliders was particularly big budget but it did get a release.

Wasn't this the same movie that ripped it's original poster off from "Werewolf"? Who have they got doing the artwork, a pet parrot?

Original poster comparison: Looks like these could both be the original posters that have been photo-shopped a bit. They couldn't even afford a parrot.

Lol, but the werewolf one is abit less photoshopped looking than the wolfman one

I thought that at first, but look at the shape of the mouth and the point at which the face gets distorted. It's the same damn picture!
