So really peed off. Apparently they were only waiting for Kevin MacKidd to finish filming the second series of Rome before filming would begin on 2nd dog soldiers. But the series has shown in US and started a couple of weeks back in here in the UK but there's still no news on DS2. I've done a quick search online but i've drawn another blank. Anyone heard any good news? Or just any news at all?

Rob Green, the director wanted to make this movie and apparently had 3 different writers (one which did not involve Kevin Mckidd in case he turned it down).
But i have heard updates that Rob Green has started looking for a cast and so far Kevin Mckidd has yet to put his name down, but Liam Cullingham is back (even though he apparently died with the silver pen knife in the 1st one) is back. so a prequel is a possibility. but there is a suspected release in 2008

How the heck could they make a sequel and still have the same soldiers?
I bet it will be a stand alone sequel like the sequels to tombs of the blind dead.

I don't think that would make sense. Perhaps a prequel explaining how the family became werewolves might work but Liam Cunnigham's head definately exploaded at the end of the film. Unless they are trying to tell us that the werewolf removed the sword and stuck it through another werewolf???

Found this on IMDB:
In the highland forest, Captain Ryan (Liam Cunningham) and his Special Forces Unit, which includes Sergeant Walker, are spying on the squad of British Soldiers who have been set up as bait for a family of bloodthirsty werewolves. However, the werewolves attack the Special Forces Unit first. Ryan is badly injured and watches helplessly as his men are dragged screaming into the surrounding trees. Walker manages to escape the apparent slaughter, but unknown to him his unit's distress signal is picked up by a U.S. Command HQ on a nearby Isle. A small U.S. Unit, led by Sgt Martinez, are immediately sent in to discover what has happened to Ryan's Unit. They quickly find Ryan's demolished base camp and the apparent only survivor, Walker; but there are no signs of any dead bodies! What has happened to Ryan and the rest of his men? Now the Unit hear a distant gun-battle. Walker leads Martinez and her men on a race across the moonlit forest to rescue the original British Squad who are trapped in the remote farmhouse. However, a second pack of savage werewolves are in pursuit. The new pack is in fact the surviving members of Captain Ryan's SAS team now transformed into werewolves, but they have retained trace memories of their commando training. The new werewolves are faster, deadlier and smarter then the original Highland werewolves. These are true Dog Soldiers - and they are hungry for fresh meat. Written by Rob Green & David E. Allen
Doesn't sound too bad, but i am wondering how the original set of squaddies found Ryan at the special opps site but not this Walker guy?

I like the fact they're supposed to be starting the film, the following morning to where the last one ended. So it's less a sequal and more a continuation of the story.
From what I head, only the survivor from the first film was supposed to be carried over into the second film, where he's picked up by the american troops who were supposed to be the actual team there were ment to be doing the wargame excercise with.
I'd guess they'd have missed the Special Opts soldier in the first film, due to maybe him having run off during the werewolf attack on the S.O.'s squad, and only returning later that night, to be found by the american squad.

P. S.
In the latest issue of the canadian horror mag Rue-Morgue there's a brief blurb about the film, where Rob Green (The Bunker) is said to be taking over the director's chair. He also had this to say: "Some of the characters actually love being a werewolf because they are so powerful – the ultimate killing machine…it’s a fun spin on the traditional angle that being a werewolf is a curse which damns the person the person no matter what. We also have a very savage she-wolf in the climax who faces against the leader of the pack of Dog Soldiers." He also goes on to say how filming will begin in the fall and that the project was haulted for a while because they wanted to shoot during the "hunter's moon" where the moon appears three times its normal size.

In October. Maybe November, depending on when the previous full moon (Harvest Moon) occurs. Also known as (my favorite) Blood Moon.
Tho the whole "looking bigger in the sky" thing won't help them. When it happens it's an optical illusion that doesn't register on film.
Meaning they should just get off their duffs and make the darn film already!!!

Couldn't agree more ArcLight. I really want to see how the sequal turns out.
We had a blood moon last year, where the moon was red and low in the sky so it appears bigger than it was. Was a very cool thing to see.
I wonder why Blue moons are called that . . . after all they are just the 2nd full moon of a month. Anyone know the history behind the name?

unknown to him his unit's distress signal is picked up by a U.S. Command HQ on a nearby Isle. Eek, looks like the US are invading Scotland! Never mind, I'm sure the werewolves will take care of them ...
