I was surprised when i saw the face hugger get the preditor in the first movie cos i wasn't sure that it could be done either. Fangoria bit is good. Looks like the double DVD has loads of special features on it.

Saw this last night and i can't say that it thrilled me! There was a too much human relationship stuff and none of the characters were compelling enough for me to give a stuff what happened to them! The predalien looked as though it could have been a real cool design, if i could have gotten a good look at it!!! The whole film was so dark i could barely see a thing! Plus it only had a 15 certificate so it was hardly the most horrible thing i've ever seen. All in all i flt this could have been an good movie but it never got a chance.

My version of the film is an R/18 rating. Heads popping, lots of chestbusters, melting faces, etc.

I agree the start dragged. As they introduced too many groups that they wanted to tell you all about before the meat of the film started.

The extras on the 2nd disk were interesting, and explained one or two things that helped the film make more sense.

The woman that they took the preditors gun to was the joint boss of the Corporation (from the Alien film) Wayland Enterprises or whatever the company was called. Wayland died in AvP, but you never saw his partner. I forget her name, something like Yotomizo or something.

The film makers did this, because they wanted to give a reason for where the technology of the future in Aliens came from. They also said something about it also gave a reason for how the company became so powerful. In effect saying due to them having access to the advance technology they were able to dominate the future government and people.

Yes thank you. I didn't realise that Wayland had had a partner. I must have missed that in the first film. I must say again how disapointed i was with this. I mean i thought the idea was great! Alien's loose on earth. The thing Ripley had really feared! How'd they screw it up?

They should get the alien films back into the future setting where it belongs. I'd love to see the comic series where they've taken over the earth, and it's set on gateway station (the orbiting space station from the extended 2nd film) where a looney general has been "taming and training" a group of aliens to be used in retaking the earth. Or the one where Ripley heads off to the homeplanet of the aliens.

Never read any of the comics so i can't comment on them. I doubt Sigourney Weaver would come back for another movie but the other idea about the gateway station shoulds like fun. How the hell do you train an alien?

The General seemed to think that the aliens have an IQ about the lvl of dogs, and treated them as such, in how he tried to train them - mainly training the queen they had by killing her warriors/eggs each time they did something wrong or not obeyed a command. Just like some people will smack a dog when it's done wrong to teach it to not do that.

Sorry for digging, but I couldn' t help myself.
I am also a huge fan of aliens and predators, and I' m active, hmm, "geek" of those franchises.

In our fan community, Aliens 4 is considered bad, but Anderson made AvP even worse. There' s so much crap in his film, that it would be hard to specify them here (for example: action in southpole, when predators don' t tolerate low temperatures, squeaking facehuggers, turbomaturing, megastrenght and superlength of alien tail, non-acidproof weapons, crappy acting, stupid dialogues, etc.), just find some fansite, u' ll see. And AvP2 is SOOOOOOO wrong , that we all wish it never happened. Facerape, ridiculous predator behavior (for example: in the final fight predator removes his mask and rest of his weaponry; that was good and honourable against Arnie, BUT NOT ALIEN-PRED HYBRID, for Gods' sake!), squeaking facehuggers, faceslapped predator by aliens, twisted way of breeding, flat characters (for example: stupid blonde), wrong montage, extremely stupid dialogues, wannabe Ripley, wannabe Newt, atomic holocaust in the end (because the guy saw image of an alien... but wait... WHAT ALIEN?? We never saw them before, but we'll nuke everybody afterall!). I could talk about craps in both movies for whole night.

So, Anderson and Strauss brothers should rot in hell for doing those "movies". :[

Im glad barttp pulled this thread back up because it gives me a chance bring up the coolest box set ever. Its the Alien Predator Total Destruction Collection. It comes with Predator 1 and 2, Alien 1-4, and AVP 1and 2. What makes this box set so awsome is that all the movies come individually cased with the bonus features.

Also, about the company, it's called Weyland-Yutani.
Weyland is the old dude in AVP.
Yutani is the Asian chick at the end of AVPR.
