Isn't the Silmarillion the story of how the Rings of Power were created? Quoted from Wiki - "The Silmarillion comprises five parts. The first part, Ainulindalë, tells of the creation of Eä, the world. Valaquenta, the second part, gives a description of the Valar and Maiar, the supernatural powers in Eä. The next section, Quenta Silmarillion, which forms the bulk of the collection, chronicles the history of the events before and during the First Age. The fourth part, Akallabêth, relates the history of the Downfall of Númenor and its people, which takes place in the Second Age. The final part, Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age, is a brief account of the circumstances which led to and were presented in The Lord of the Rings." Brief not on Eä, Valar, Maiar: Eä is basically God - or at least a "creator being" who made everything else. He sang it into existance. (magic in middle earth is outside the song which is why the Istari (eg gandalf) try to use as little magic as possible. The Valar were his first "people" and their job was to oversee and impliment Eä's wishes within the Great Song. Each had an aspect that was their's - Earth, Sea, Animals, etc etc. It was the Valar that created the races of Elf, Man, Dwarf, etc and were worshipped as gods by many cultures. Notable Valar include: Morgoth (aka Melkor - sauron's boss). The Maiar were the "angels" of the Valar (in an inaccurate way). The servants if you like. Notable Maiar include: Gandalf, Saruman, Sauron, Balrogs. Ok, I'll stop now, before I bore people. You're not boring me. I love Lord of the Rings and mythology as a whole. It's great. I will get around to reading The Silmarillion one day  |

the ring books and movies are bad arse, but i wander why they made the main characters little gay hobbits........ GAY!!!!!!!!!!!, if i would have wrote those books the main characters would have been werewolf jedi wizards that ride giant vampire demon horses, that would make for a good arse movie! JEDI 4 LIFE!!!
