That's the problem with sequels. They can be seriously disapointing. Especially when you've waited long time. So what was it in particular? Bad script? Crap attacking?

My copy of this has just been delivered. It's got a cool changing image on the front of the box Was it the uncut version you saw labambabenitez? Hopefully it was the cut version you saw, and the uncut one will be better or at least more gory to make up for it being bad

Watched it last night The dialog was bad The acting wasn't good in places The script had some bad bits in it The actors playing the vamps didn't suit The humour missed nearly every time The vampire makeup was wrong, should have been the same as the first films Edger Frog was ok, better directing would have made the character awesome The alternate endings pushed it over into feeling like a feature length pilot It was gorey in the fighting/feeding scenes - head removing, blood, disembowling Vamp strength seemed to change to fit the scene rather then be consistant The vamps acted more like prats than cool teen surfers Just a lack of coolness overall Felt like the story was being rushed when it wasn't the action bits Cinematography wasn't good, failed to promote the feelings needed Night surfing shots looked like day surfing with just the colour and brightness turned down No backstory to speak of to anyone but the two main characters Naked scenes Naked scenes were just exploitive rather then adding to the story Kept the "cry little sister" song, and had same singer but had him update it Now after all that the film was an ok vamp film. It was a very poor sequal to Lost Boys, and lost all the coolness and feeling and comedy of that first film. If they'd not put in the wine/blood drinking, the song, edgar frog, and the name of the film than it'd not have had anything in common with the original. After watching it, I'd wished they'd not made it at all, I just cannot imagine how they couldn't have got better actors and directors and cash to make a really big sequal, one that'd have been a blockbuster at the cinema. Especially considering the fanbase and how popular the first film was. So, it's a watchable throw-away vamp film, rather than what it should have been.

Arg, that saddens me. The worst part is there were actually two other attempts to make Lost Boys 2 that never made it to screen, both sounded really cool. As far as I know, the original director actually wrote a sequel straight after that continued the story immediately after the first film, but couldn't get funding; And Eric Red (who worked on Bad Moon and Near Dark) apparently wrote a really cool sequel called Lost Girls that nobody picked up for some reason.

I remember the Lost Girls script. Well if they weren't eager to do it then they certainly won't be now!

the head vamp angus sutherland, probably destroyed the film himself he was sooooo bad i wanted to poke myyslef in the eye lol, anyways the script wasn't tooo bad as it was pretty much a remake rather than sequel but the guy who said the humour missed...yeah it kinda did and i agree with the edgar frog sentence too. im not sure which version i watched but they shouldnt have bothered with the fast moving thing going on, and did they not turn into bats in the first movie? they obviously flew so i presumed they were bats but according to this movie they dont? im soooo confused it hurts my tiny lil brain

No, they didn't turn into bats. Though they could fly, or mayby glide really well in the first film.

I saw this on the weekend. Terrible.
The story was weak (as in non-existent) as were the characters and the acting. The vamps were the most pathetic band of bloodsuckers ever; just stupid surfer dudes without a brain cell between them. The leader was such a lightweight. Why would anyone ever want to turn him in to a vamp? Then they all go and get themsleves killed by just two guys while hardly putting up any fight.
I'm not a huge fan of the original (give me Near Dark anyday), but at least it was decently written with some fun characters, decent actors, good fx and stylishly directed. This was just a cheap, shoddy, rushed and empty effort. At least Corey Feldman seemed to having some fun. I just hope he got paid well.

I bought a copy for $20 USD. I've never been so disappointed with a Direct-to-DVD movie in my life, and that includes TOMB OF THE WEREWOLF. There was no reason for the family this time to share the same name as the family in the 1st movie (Emerson, for those keeping score). Edgar Frog never comments on this, and the deleted scenes with Sam Emerson don't make any reference to it either. Just one more WHY BOTHER? to add to movie full of WHY BOTHER?s, primary among them; WHY BOTHER making this film?
