This film is based on a computer game by the same name.
The trailer for it was very interesting, not least because there appears to be some angels and burning skies (I'm guessing he's halucinating at that point or something). Effects looks good, and it has a well known actor playing the lead, and no I don't remember who it is.
Not sure what the storyline will be, but it looks like some people killed his wife/girlfriend and left him for dead in a river, and he's back to kill them a lot.

I'm not much of a gamer but I loved this game so much. Marky Mark Wahlberg is Payne. I can kinda see it but personally I thought Craig Sheffer would have been perfect. He's hardly a big name but I think he deserves a shot at a big movie.

Wish I knew why they keep remaking punisher. There's been what 3 of them now counting the latest? and none of them have been really that good. I think they've failed each time to give the character that something special which makes the audiance go "cool".

3 of them? What have i missed? I can only re-call the one with Thomas Jayne and John Travolta.

The three that I know of are:
The Punisher (1989) - staring Dolph Lundgren The Punisher (2006) - staring Thomas Jane (with John Travolta) The Punisher Warzone (2008) - staring Ray Stevenson

The Thomas Jane Punisher film was great. The Dolph Lundgren one was okay, but had very little resemblance to the books that inspired it. If you look at it as strictly a violent action film, then it's good for that genre. But Thomas Jane was the perfect Punisher, at least as far as I'm concerned. He also did voice acting for the Punisher video game that came out around the same time, and he may have been even better in that. I cannot say enough good things about the Thomas Jane Punisher movie, though I can say a couple bad things (ending was kinda silly). Now, I am against this new Punisher movie, and here's why: www.aintitcool.com/node/32673
