Good topic... I'm torn between Dog Soldiers and Ginger Snaps, in my opinion by far the two best werewolf movies since the eighties! Today, I choose Dog Soldiers. Runners-up would be Romasanta and Ginger Snaps 2.

Yeah...hard to choose between Dog Soldiers and Ginger Snaps because they're two very different approaches.....basically depends on the mood I'm in.

As much as I like to avoid crowds, I'd have to vote for "Dog Soldiers." "Ginger Snaps" is very well made, as are its sequels, but they're too depressing for my tastes. I would have voted for one of the "Underworld" movies, but they're too vampire-centric to justify labeling either of them "Best Werewolf Movie."
"Cursed," "Skinwalkers," and "Big Bad Wolf" had their moments, but ended up disappointing me.
I enjoyed "Nature of the Beast," "Beast of Bray Road," "Blood and Chocolate," and "Never Cry Werewolf," but they're hardly the best.
"The Feeding" should be banished from existence and never spoken of again.
There are a lot of names here, but it's really slim pickings. Actually, it seems like every decade has one of two distinctively good werewolf movies and a whole bunch of B-listers of worse.

Like the others I was torn between Ginger Snaps and Dog Soldiers. Both very good werewolf films, with distinct differences in their portrail. I voted for Ginger Snaps, mainly because it should have some votes "Brotherhood of the wolf" and "Underworld" I don't class as a werewolf film. Even though Underworld has werewolves in it, it's more a vampire film I think as the story centres on that side of the war. "Blood And Chocolate", "Big Bad Wolf", "Cursed" all had potential that they didn't manage to pull off. I agree with dedwyre in his thought that each decade seems to produce 2 very good werewolf films.

The only reason I chose underworld is that The only movies I seen on that list are Cursed, Nature of The Beast, Underworld and Underworld:Evolution. I could hardly pick Cursed or Nature of The Beast. So I went with Underworld because I liked the first better than the second.

I'd highly recommend you beg, borrow, or buy a copy of both Dog Soldiers and ginger snaps to watch.

I highly recommend that you destroy any copies of "Dark Wolf" that you come across.

The movie poster is on our wall in "my room" in the basement...gotta go with DS. I loved Ginger Snaps (you can call me crazy, I like GS The beginning quite a bit). DS is just simply awesome...too bad DS Fresh Meat got put on the shelf after all the issues surrounding it.

I liked Ginger Snaps: The Beginning as well, in fact i prefered that one to Ginger Snaps: Unleased.

I agree. The 3rd one was better then the 2nd one, though neither topped the 1st one
