AWIP?

Hey guys.

Last night i revisited An American Werewolf In Paris with my family (cozy), Since i just bought it on dvd. I have seen it some years ago, but didn't remember much of it.
Anyways, i've seen people here giving the movie a hard time. It seems all of you enthusiasts are really disliking it.
Well here goes... I actually found it quite cool. Sure it isn't AWIL, but the whole story line isn't half bad i think. I really noticed how the humor tried to lay as close as possible to AWIL, but just simply failed to be quite as funny and sophisticated/delicate. Anyhow, some of the jokes actually did make me smile. The acting is poor, but not to the point where you wanna scratch your eyes out like in some movies (read: The howling 2-7).
For the werewolves, i actually think they had a lot of potential, unfortunately, they were all CGI, but i really liked the design of them. Also i like the whole idea of having a whole underground movement of werewolves that feast on the weak to evaporate the world of scum (not that i approve of the political point of view)

Anyways.. these were my thougts on AWIP. Not an all bad movie, but just wasn't amazing either. And since the plot has absolutely nothing to do with AWIL, i think you'll always be dissapointed if you think of it as a sequel. Think of it as a separate movie, and i think you'll enjoy it

For me what lets this film down is:

1/ The CGI - the werewolves did not look good.
2/ Not enough Horror - It's a werewolf film!!
3/ Chunks of the humour fell flat.

Other than that I agree it's an ok film. Shame they'd not had him as a survivive from the first film when the werewolf ran amoke in london.

I remember being greatly upset at this film for being the failure that it is. The first time I saw it I was crying for all the wrong reasons. The CGI werewolves and terrible plot being the two main let downs.

It wasn't great but certainly not the worst i have seen. At the time i seem to remember just being pleased there was a werewolf movie out!

I see myself as more of a horror connoisseur than a fan. A horror fan is quick to bash movies they dont like or tend to jump into movies with a mind-set that the film will suck, thus ruining the movie experience. On the flip side a horror connoisseur looks at every film as a work of art and enjoys movies in general be it bad of good.

I hated the CGI, but it did have it's moments.

Julie Bowden, who plays the hot little blonde he meets in the diner, plays Clair on ABC's Modern Family. She's aged very well.
