Hello!

Just found the site, so I wanted to say hi.

Before I say anything else, would it look too dodgy if I said 'I am not a spammer'?? But I do have to admit that I found this site while looking for places to publicize an event I'm running in Manchester, UK. It's a conference on female werewolves in literature, film, TV and pop culture. The conference is in September, and we still have a few places for delegates - we even have a couple of last minute opportunities for people who'd like to present a paper.

I don't want to add too much on here, as I'm sure that's a bit forward for a new member! But as the registration date is looming for the conference (Wednesday 25th August), I hope you'll forgive this.

I'd really like to hear from anyone who'd be interested in attending the conference. I can give more details on request.

Thanks for the welcome! I've had quite a lot of interest from folks over the pond, so I might be putting some of the conference stuff up on the web at some point. Am I allowed to post a link up to our site on here or would that be pushing my luck?

And I personally don't mind if you plug your projects, I certainly would. As long as it's done with good taste. You may have read the threads concerning "Awarewolf", it's a good example of how not to spam.

Yep - saw those posts! I also moderate another (non-werewolf) forum, so I know how annoying it is when a new member joins and straightaway starts plugging something!

But since you've been so kind... the conference website is www.shewolf-manchester.blogspot.com. If anyone from the UK is interested in attending, there's info on there about getting in touch. After the conference has finished, the blog's going to continue as a sort of web resource on all things female werewolf. I'm also putting together a book of essays on female werewolves throughout history.

OK, plug over. I will post other things... though I'll probably be a bit quiet until the conference is over and I can finally relax again!

Alas even though I am in England, Manchester is a bit too far for me to get to. I've only got short legs.

Female werewolves in film/literatrure/etc isn't something I've particularly thought about as a stand alone topic. Though if I think about it now, I can see that their are differences in how such are portrade, at least in the films and fthe ew books that I've read with werewolves in them.
