AMAZON US and AMAZON CA already have it up for pre-order with a release date of January 11, 2011, but there is no cover art or DVD Details available. I'll have to amend this post when that happens, but, bottom line, it is finally up for pre-ordering; on standard DVD and Blu-Ray separately. AMAZON US (Standard) www.amazon.com/Piranha-3-D-Elisabeth-Shue/dp/B002ZG98KK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1287770880&sr=1-1AMAZON US (Blu-Ray) www.amazon.com/Piranha-3-D-Blu-ray-Elisabeth-Shue/dp/B002ZG98L4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1287771382&sr=1-2AMAZON CA (Standard) www.amazon.ca/Piranha-3d-Elisabeth-Shue/dp/B002ZG98KK/ref=sr_1_2?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1287771222&sr=1-2 AMAZON CA (Blu-Ray) www.amazon.ca/Piranha-3d-Blu-ray/dp/B0046YK3NU/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1287771222&sr=1-1What I do know is from a summer announcement on SHOCK TILL YOU DROP that this DVD will be an unrated Director's Cut, though, no added plot, just more gore they couldn't put into the theatrical release. And, unfortunately, this is probably gonna be a case where the Blu-Ray is going to be loaded, and the standard, well, not so much, if any. I hate when they do that.

That really gets on my nerves. Why should the Blue-Ray have better extras, etc? It's just another way to try and screw more money out of people.

There trying everything to get people to move to blue ray. Prime example, Disney just released a Diamond Edition of Beauty and the Beast that comes with the blue ray and dvd. Their not releasing the standard special edition dvd until november. Their selling a lot a blue ray/dvd combo packs to get people to "move forward."

I know the feeling of having to rebuy lots of films to get them from VHS and onto DVD - Especially when you know you paid hundreds of pounds for them, and their now worth about 15 1/2 pence. grrrr.
The only bringing out extras/special editions on blue-ray started happening this year. And I agree it's very annoying. The Blue-ray disks are noticably more expensive and I don't particularly want to fork out for a new player just to watch them on. - though I may look into getting one for christmas . . . after all it is the way things are going and I'll probably have to get one eventually, so may see if I can pick one up in the January Sales.
But I'm still not going to be happy about it.
Oh, and I'm not sure if I want to by the piranha remake or not. I liked the original, so I may wait until it drops in price.

I love Blu ray but I have to be honest, I am not going to start buying stuff over again. I did already from vhs. Yeah I agree. I think the quality difference between VHS-DVD is a lot bigger than BluRay-DVD. DVD looks great and it's affordable! Why would I buy a brand new Aston Martin when I own a perfectly good respectable old Aston Martin already? Also, it's much to early for BluRay and HD DVD, It's barely a decade after VHS stopped being the home video standard.
