When asked about the look of the werewolves, the guy on IMDB said they look sort of like the ones in Underworld. Probably more apt than he realized, and not surprising, considering Patrick Tatapolous (sp?) designed both.

Early word from test screen reviews is that 'Trick R Treat' is a fun, very entertaining, well made flick that's quite scary and pretty gruesome with a great performance from Dylan Baker as a local serial killer. Unfortunately their seems to be some doubt now over the release date of this film. It was originally down for Oct 5th 07 in the US, but rumblings from Warner Bros. say it will now be a 2008 release (exact date unknown). No news about this on writer/Director Mike Dougherty's MySpace or website. Movie still has an Oct 5th 07 date there, but it does seem to have mysteriously vanished from other online release schedules and from the Warner Bros. websites 'coming soon' section. What's going on Warner Bros.? A potentially great Halloween movie that audiences seem to really enjoy is getting sat on. For what? Because you are releasing prestige George Clooney legal drama 'Michael Clayton' the same time? At least that's the rumour. If true it's just plain stupid as they will appeal to completely different audiences and besides 'Michael Clayton' looks immensely dull.

the delay will probably be so the release schedule is more evenly spaced over the year. Maybe they didn't have enough films planned for 2008 so moved it back, or they think waiting will get a better turnout and thus more cash for them.
Their "PR" team may have said that its the wrong time for such a film when looking at other releases form other companies the this year, and their recommendation is to release it next year when it will get a better response.
Of course that's the synical reason - cash - maybe it's something else, like the certification board is dragging their feet, or cinemas have already spent their budgets on other films, and cannot afford to distribute this one till next year.

I expect you are right. The whole point of this film, though, was to make a high profile, definitive Halloween released movie to celebrate the holiday. It was always meant to be released for this Halloween and the release date was booked in ages ago. It's already been rated and passed as an R in the US, which was agreed with the director and the studio from the start. The production seemed to go smoothly and it's been getting great early reviews and word of mouth. The studio would have planned for advertising and distribution costs for what is only a mid budgeted film. My theory is that, as Warners last 'horror' movie has bombed big time (The Invasion) and 30 Days of Night is out on Oct 19th (R rated) along with Sarah Langdon and the Paranormal Hour (PG rated) and a re-issue of A Nightmare Before Christmas 3D, they have bottled it and don't know when best to release the film now. The following week also has Saw 4 (R rated) released which will just be hoovering up money.

Warner Brothers have officially dumped this film, making them officially bastards. Hopefully some company will see sense and pick this one up, having noticed that everyone is sick to f*cking death of remakes.
