"The famous detective Vidocq has disappeared in 19th-century Paris. When Vidocq's dedicated but inexperienced biographer, Etienne, searches the city's underground for Vidocq's killer, it becomes unclear whether he is the hunter or the hunted."
Released in 2001, it's the first film to ever be shot completely with digital cinematography; looks a bit off at first, but I think it works well for the movie. Despite initial appearances, it's actually a sci-fi/fantasy, and I think their application of the elements is nicely done. The music is fantastic. And there's an awesome plot twist at the end too...
