Saw this Australian flick on Netflix last night (and by last night I mean 0300 this morning, go insomnia!) and was pleasantly surprised. Yeah, it was kinda cheesy, but fun.
A group of college students head into the Outback to research some ancient cave paintings. After the requisite campsite horseplay, one of them goes for a dip in a nearby billabong, freaks out over leeches, and falls sick.
By "sick" I mean her teeth fall out, a mouthful of fangs grows in, and she basically becomes a wild animal going OM NOM NOM. And, of course, their car is broken down, so the other 5 have to deal with her and whatever's living in the cave that caused the transformation in the first place.
Yeah, some of the special effects are... iffy... but I went into this movie expecting some cheesy fun and got more than I expected.
So, on final consideration, I give it a solid 3/5 howls.

Dog Soldiers is one of the handful of movies I've given 5 howls, because it's just amazing like that.
I haven't seen Neo Monster Island, actually. Sweet zombie Jesus kind of just manifested as a stock phrase among the people I know a few years ago and I never knew why.
