Just thought I'd 'regenerate' this thread (see what i did there, mehehehe) by mentioning plans to make an American (non-canon) feature film. I'm not mad about this idea BUT David Yates (Harry Potter) is lined up to direct, and if they keep the Doctor British - it might be a lot of fun. Thoughts? www.doctorwhonews.net/2011/11/dwn141111190008-doctor-who-film-in.html

HMMMMM so who would we like to see as the Doctor? David Thewlis perhaps? Apparently he was a fan favourite at one point. Not sure if that was pre-Tennant or pre-Smith.

I always have problems with those kinds of questions. As my mind goes blank and I cannot remember any actors lol.

Rickman? I never even thought of Alan Rickman. Hmmm not sure about that. I like Rickman but not sure about him as Dr Who. Be interesting if nothing else.

I love stories that portray the Doctor as a mysterious alien presence, especially if you're not sure which side he's on until the final scene. That's why I think Rickman would be perfect for Doctor Who. His interpretation of Snape in the Potter movies is a great example of a dangerous, plotting, dark being who turns out to be a lot more than what he initially seems to be. Yet there is also plenty of room for comedy, heroism etc. Both William Hartnell and Sylvester McCoy feature in some grand serials which also explore these elements and qualities.
Bill Nighy would also be fab.
