So I hadn't even heard about this movie until I was browsing Netflix in search of entertainment during yet another bout of insomnia. It looked interesting, and definitely better than most of the schlock listed for streaming viewing, so I gave it a watch. I'm glad I did. It first showed at the Screamfest LA International Horror Film Festival in late 2006 and I'm wondering how the hell I never heard about it.
David Forrester becomes consumed with grief after the death of his rock star older brother, so his well-meaning but out-of-touch parents send him to an "attitude adjustment camp" called Driftwood, run with all the loving, tender care of the worst depictions of boot camp. While there, David starts having visions of a mysterious teenager and quickly realizes there's something wrong with the place.
I really can't go into any more detail without spoiling things, but the movie has some damn creepy atmosphere, and the plot was pretty solid. It's one of the best haunting movies I've seen in a couple months.
I give it 4 howls.
