I wasn't so fond of the first film but the new Downey Jr. / Law / Ritchie Holmes film is really pretty good! It's still a lot of mindless nonesense which doesn't exploit to full potential of Sherlock's character and iconography but for a modernday Hollywood blockbuster version it's pretty neat.
The finale in particular is very effective, suspenseful and stylish compared to the first half of the film. It's like they decided to make the last 10 minutes proper Holmesian adventure.
PLUS Stephen Fry is in it! I rest my case.
Any thoughts?

I've yet to see it but really want to. I enjoyed the first one, i thought it was fun. But i didn't realise Stephen Fry was in it! Only thing missing now is Christopher Lee!

I prefered the Sherlock series to the 1st film. But I have heard good things about the new film, so will be getting it when it's available on DVD.

I you liked the first one you'll love the big nr 2. I had mixed feelings about the first film, and I loved the second, so what's keeping you?
Fry = Mycroft...see it! NOW!
And 'Sherlock' is indeed superb. I've only seen 2 or 3 episodes but I love it. If 'Sherlock' was a period show (which it isn't, HUGE pity) it would have been the perfect Holmes adaption.
