Not a werewolf movie but a survival story featuring a group of crash survivors in Alaska being hunted by a pack of wolves. It looks like it has the usual hollywood cheese but Im a sucker for the wilderness & the wild things that live there so Im quite looking forward to it. I really enjoyed "The Edge" a few yrs back with Anthony Hopkins which had a similar premise but involved a Bear hunting down some survivors lost in the wilderness........

Seen the trailer for this a couple of times, and I do think it could be good.
I've rather liked Liam Nelson in his last few films, and the idea of them being hunted by a wolf pack in the wilderness is good, plus the effects for the wolves also look like they've put some effort into making them scary.

It does look pretty cool........My only worry is that they have gone down the CGI route for action scenes which would spoil it a bit for me personally. The only cgi that I can honestly say "worked" for me was in the Lord of the Rings movies.

Wolves get enough of a bad rap. I don't plan on watching it.

Wolves get enough of a bad rap. I don't plan on watching it. You and about fifty thousand other wolf fans are missing out on one of the best films of the year. It's more a film about how people deal with death than the persecution of the poor, innocent wulfs by da mean hyoomans.

They are also using animatronics for the wolves too, not just CGI.
Infact apparently the only scene with real wolves is one which shows them running in the landscape.

Out of the 8 films I've seen in the theater so far this year, this is the best one in my eyes. It's just my kind of movie, and I felt it was executed well.

Looking back over the threads, I noticed I didn't mention what I thought of this film after I'd watched it.
So, a little late, but better than not at all, here are my thoughts.
It's a decent film. Not bad but not great either. The landscape worked well, the feeling of cold and snow. The actors were ok, none of them stood out to me. The main protagonist felt a little stero-typed as the 'angry loner' but not overly so. The wolves made a good ongoing threat and how the people reacted to them seemed to fit the film. One of the 'confrontation' scenes between the wolves and the protagonist went a bit too unreal I think. But overall a nice wilderness survival stroke animal attack style film, with a reasonable amount of gore.

Yeah, as far as the action goes, it's pretty standard. I did love the interactions of the characters, as a bunch of guys who seemingly had very little to live for find a reason to fight for their survival before mother nature closes in on them. The setting and atmosphere was beautiful, the "wolves on steroids" were menacing, and the ending fit well. As I said, survival movies work for me when done well, and this one was the best I've seen in a while. I'm tempted to see it again in the theater, as from what I've heard, there's a re-release on the horizon for Oscar considerations.

hmm, maybe I should go post in the general film tab a "top 10" survival list, like the vamp and werewolf ones.

Don't fancy this at all. My folks have seen it and i don't think they were very impressed, they didn't enjoy the ending but wouldn't let on what happened. Plus, and i know this isn't really a reason not to watch a movie but i wasn't impressed to learn that Liam Neeson ate wolf meat in order to prepare for the role. Liam Neeson is a great actor though. Anyone ever see him in High Spirits? It was early on in his career. Veyr funny movie.
