Gerry Anderson, creator and producer of the superb tv show 'Thunderbirds' and stuff like 'Captain Scarlet', 'Stingray' and 'Space 1999' has died this week. He was 83 years old. 'Thunderbirds' had a huge influence on me when I was a kid. I saw the show in the great revival reruns of the 1990s and I've never stopped enjoying it since. I'm sure quite a couple of you will have enjoyed his shows (and films) over the years since quite a couple of you are Brits and quite a couple of Brits know how to appreciate good, decent, British quality television. And if it's great television you want, Gerry Anderson was - and is - your man! Here's the sad news on the BBC News site : www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-20845407And a favorite interview of mine, a great quote at 3:34 :

I agree he has done some great shows. I'm especially fond of Space 1999.
Terrorhawks was also one of his I used to like watching when I was a kid.

Terrorhawks used to freak me out as a kid. Proper scary stuff.

Yup those villians with their leathery wrinkled skin and frantic shaking when they laughed were more scary than most mainstream horror villians.
