80's werewolf movie?

i once saw a werewolf movie that I thought was the best i ever seen . it starred a drifter drifting through a town and came to a diner. he entered the diner a saw a rough gray haired man. later that night he was attacked by a werewolf(rough gray haired man) thus making him a werewolf. at the end of the movie he finds the rough gray haired man who turn him in an abandoned church or barn and fought him to the death killing the rough gray haired man and started a fire burning down the church/barn. what was the name of this movie?

Could it have been the first episode of the TV series 'Werewolf' (1987)? If I remember rightly, the pilot episode was movie-length and sort of worked as a self-contained story as well.
