Just when I'd almost completely written off the 'found footage' sub genre as a gimmick that's been done to death, along comes this...
'The flick is set to shoot next month in Romania, with William Brent Bell directing and a screenplay by Matthew Peterman. The pair co-wrote THE DEVIL INSIDE, which Bell also directed. Film District will release the film; Peterman will produce with Steven Schneider and Morris Paulson.'
'Actress A.J. Cook is set for the lead, she is in final negations. She will play "Kate Moore", a defense attorney determined to clear the name of her client, "Talan Gwynek", who is the main suspect in the grisly multiple slaying of an American family. While Talan appears to be gentle on the surface, his attorney soon learns that Talan is actually a werewolf. '
I skipped The Devil Inside cos it looked a bit rubbish, and I'm a bit sick of this style of filming. But naturally I'll be giving this one a fair chance!

By the sound of it, this film will jump from 'normal' look in the courtroom to 'shakey camera' style when they review the footage as evidence. At least that's what I'm guessing.
I hate the shakey camera style as it always makes me feel ill and I can never cope with more than 10 or 15 minutes before I have to turn it off. It's so annoying as I've missed watching films because of this stupid thing.

Here's the trailer. Looks interesting, though The Devil Inside was a piece of crap.

So has anyone seen this movie yet? I hear its now available through On Demand and although Bloody Disgusting doesn't rate it highly those commenting underneath says its quite good. Just wondering what people think?

The rapid fire editing in the trailer is enough to give me a headache even without the hand held camera parts.
Have not seen it. Think I will wait until it shows up on a cable channel I already own.
Bloody Disgusting seems to be more critical of things than the fan comments. Is it because they are over critical or because the fans who comment are those more likely to be attracted to the movie and therefore generally more positive about it? Whereas those who are not attracted to the movie are less likely to have bothered watching it and therefore have no comments? Chicken salad or egg salad?

I watched this over the weekend.
It's not strictly a 'found-footage' film, but even the 'regular' parts are shot handheld style so if the shaky cam stuff makes you seasick, have Dramamine ready. Seemed a little too dark in spots, too.
Overall, I liked it. Certainly helps that I love AJ Cook. The ending didn't do much for me. Not bad, just not terribly original.
I'd say it's worth a watch.

I agree with ArcLight. I quite liked it. At least it was trying something a little different - mixing science/superstition/supernatural with the 'truth' somewhere in between. The cast are good esp AJ Cook and the guy playing the Wer. And it isn't a found footage film. It's a regular film with (strangely) the odd bit of security cam and news footage spliced in. It's also pleasingly gory in places and moves along at a good old pace. The ending is a bit meh but what comes before is not too bad at all. No classic but a cut above the usual dross.

Necro city again Not found footage but an almost constantly moving camera style. It matches the storyline which is also almost constantly moving. Twists, turns and complexities, which all add up to a satisfying conclusion that intentionally leaves some threads untied but ties the right ones up tight. The movie pulls the rug out from under you a few times, but that makes for an engaging film that keeps your interest. Acting, dialog and so on are all good. IMO a good werewolf story if a rather different one. The creature look is simply a very hairy guy with canine like teeth. He is always very hairy so the only differences are the teeth and superhuman speed and strength. And a major attitude. (With good reason as it turns out.) Gore is quite gory and body count is like unbelievable. I liked it.
