Just seen the first trailer for the new Godzilla movie. It looks its going to be much darker than the 1998 movie staring Matthew Broderick. Here's the official teaser trailer, although at well over 2mins its the longest teaser i think i've ever seen. Brain Cranston seems to be doing very well for himself after his success in Breaking Bad as he's one of the leads. Based on the trailer below i think i'll be heading out to see it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjKO10hKtYw

If the movie turns out to be as good as the trailer, it will be a real winner. Dare one hope... What I would really like is a Godzilla movie as good as the one I saw with my nine year old eyes that Saturday morning so long ago.

That looks very promising. Not sure why they had them jumping with smoke on their foot though, seemed to be just so they could do a long shot and you'd still see them jumping.
One to definately keep an eye on though.

What I would really like is a Godzilla movie as good as the one I saw with my nine year old eyes that Saturday morning so long ago. Now that would a dream come true. Not sure about the red smoke on the soldiers jumping out of the plane. I assume its so they can identify each other? It does look so good but then i remember the teaser trailer for the 1998 movie that just showed the foot destroying stuff and Godzilla's roar and i thought that looked brilliant too..... I'm keeping everything crossed for this one.

What I would really like is a Godzilla movie as good as the one I saw with my nine year old eyes that Saturday morning so long ago. Now that would be a dream come true. The movie in question was the 1956 Godzilla, King of the Monsters! I do not recall a second feature although there always was one. There was something about being in a dark theater on Saturday morning with about a thousand other noisy kids watching monster movies that made them so memorable. Many years later I picked up the VHS edition. It was with some trepidation that I sat down to watch it again. But it was still surprisingly good even for my adult tastes, if one allowed for the primitive state of the art of SFX in the mid 1950s. And one ignored Raymond Burr when necessary. ;D Not sure about the red smoke on the soldiers jumping out of the plane. I assume its so they can identify each other? It does look so good but then i remember the teaser trailer for the 1998 movie that just showed the foot destroying stuff and Godzilla's roar and i thought that looked brilliant too..... I'm keeping everything crossed for this one. I suspect the red smoke was for dramatic effect. Skydiving team exhibitions often include red smoke trails so one can more readily follow the action. If one wants a justification for their use here, maybe it could be for staying together at night without colliding, the better to go into action immediately.

I ran into someone who saw it and said it was really good. It is the classic Japanese Godzilla motif (but not made by Toho) but with much better FX. No guy in a rubber suit silliness, instead a well done CGI Godzilla. Good FX all around. As happens in many of the Toho movies it is Godzilla versus some other monsters, with the Godz being the good guy this time around. Good plot, decent acting, reasonable dialog, nice action. Anyway that is what I have been told. Hope it is true.
Anyone here see it?
