Little horror film, about a group of teens trapped in a cabin in the woods by a monster with big teeth. trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/animal/Don't expext this to be high on plot, but it may be entertaining enough to be watchable.

Anyone having trouble playing the trailer - like people running Windows 8 - here is one that does not need Quicktime. Apple and Microsoft don't always know how to play nice together. www.imdb.com/title/tt2996684/This could be good or bad, depends on direction and editing, among other things. I am somewhat suspicious of the animal itself. We barely see any of it. Is it because they want to surprise us with something really scary, or because it is really stupid looking? It Conquered the World (1956) was a pretty good movie about an alien takeover of the world by mind control - electrodes planted in the back of the neck by nasty little bat things. But what people tend to remember about it was the hilariously stupid looking alien. Hope Animal at least does not fail in that department. The alien...

That alien had better be careful or someone will turn it upside down and drop a scoop of ice-cream in it.
no, not ice-cream, but 'The Stuff' from the film of the same name.

I had to look up The Stuff. Sounds like a wacky movie. I love 'stuff' like that.
I checked out the cast of Animal - not exactly household name superstars but not rank amateurs either. They have all been around the block a few times, alleviating another of my concerns - dud acting. However I see no less than 15 producers. Producers have more to do with the final product than most people realize. Could there be a problem with consistency of vision? Of course Drew Barrymore heading the producer list is a good sign. She is one multi-talented lady who would surely not associate herself with junk. (I have sort of been in love with Drew ever since I saw her in Firestarter way back when. Even at 8 years of age it was clear that she had inherited the Barrymore acting genes.)

Had to look that one up...I am both the wrong age and the wrong nationality. After seeing "It Conquered..." I had a nightmare about the bat things that zap you in the back of the neck and make you not you. Sort of an alarming idea for a nine year old kid...
