New Dracula film that's coming out soon is set during the time where Dracula is fighting the Turks and makes a deal to become a vampire to defend his lands and people. youtu.be/hZFZxEnB7wsIt's a big budget action/effects looking film, and personally I think it looks pretty good and the actor playing Dracula looks the part.

Interesting premise. And Luke Evans (Dracula) has enough acting experience to make it real, not only a number of pretty good movies(*) but lots of stage plays. This is the first pairing of Legendary Pictures and Universal Studios. Legendary's record is spotty, ranging from Wow! to Huh? Universal has a generations long rep in the horror field but they also did Van Helsing - also a big budget action/effects film. Keeping my fangs crossed for this one. (And man is that uncomfortable!) (*) Let's not talk about The Three Musketeers. It wasn't his fault.

The trailer for this doesn't look bad at all.

A Superhero Origins tale about Vlad/Dracula, heavy on the sympathetic narrative.
With that said, it's still enjoyable and Luke was great in the role.
Notice many people ignore that Dracula:Untold was the first out the gate from Universal's Dark Universe.
If they try to resurrected the DU again, I hope Evans gets another shot at Dracula.

If they do proceed with more Dark Universe movies (and I hear The Invisible Man is going to be released before long sans Depp) they should remember some things:

Well Said.
Blumhouse/Leigh Whannell's Invisible Man's reboot wrapped earlier this month. Set for release February 2020. Oliver Jackson-Cohen replaced Depp.
Curious to see if Blumhouse can resurrect Dark Universe.
