An ambitious attempt to do something a little different. Not entirely original but never expanded this elaborately before AFAIK. Worth a look for that reason. Maybe.
A bunch of college teens set out to find the grave of a werewolf for a school project. This grave turns out to be so far out in the middle of nowhere they need to camp overnight despite riding horseback. If you can accept this or at least suspend enough disbelief then you can watch the movie all the way through. No more unlikely than a bunch of other horror movie premises I guess. Plus it gets them out in the woods far from help where nasty stuff happens.
This bunch of kids is mostly stereotypes and a lot of time is spent in teen romantic angst, which is only marginally connected with the plot. One of the guys is a stoner - like always shown with a joint in his mouth (except once in the classroom). He films anything and everything, and annoyingly the movie often consists of the mediocre quality film of what is happening. BTW this is film. Super 8 is still alive and well but what we get shown looks like home movies from the 1950s that did not age well. Anyway, I could not care enough about the characters to worry about who would get it and who would not. In fact, I really wanted to see some of them get ripped up, they were so annoying.
IMO the ending/resolution is just a little too slick and convenient. Not as absurd as the end of Bride of Frankenstein where there is a lever that conveniently blows up the whole lab. Just could have been foreshadowed a little.

I missed that there was already a thread on this movie. Did not look hard enough I guess. The stuff you provided about the legend is really cool! I love it when there is a good real world basis for a far out story. |

Jeebus...I'm too used to facebook actually showing what I'm linking to so I don't think to double-check that this thing copies like I think it should. (which I should know it doesn't by now as many times as I have to try multiple times to get the right pictures pasted into P'shop sometimes) |
