Great idea! I will definitely celebrate. Unfortunately there is no nearby human company that would appreciate this. So I will invite the spirits of the many dogs I have had. They sometimes visit in the night as it is. (Sadly my physical condition rules out long walks and fences are not allowed here so I have no canine companions any more.) Roast meat as per the linked site? Nice rare roast beef from the deli on hearty rye bread smothered in beef gravy with more bread on the side to sop up the remaining gravy sounds like an appropriate dinner. Full moon cake for dessert as suggested? It will be a waning crescent moon, almost a fingernail, tomorrow night. Chocolate Moon Pie? Suzy Qs? Both?

The sun has now set where I live and Wolfenoot has begun in earnest. (Wolfenacht?) Earlier today I sent money via their website to the local SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in memory of the many (8) four footed friends who brightened my life in the past. This should not be confused with the ASPCA, a totally different organization that actually does almost nothing for shelter animals, despite their tear jerker TV ads. By contrast SPCA organizations are all local and are almost entirely about shelters and adoptions and are supported by local donations. All of my canine housemates have been either shelter rescues or foundlings. Fen, the Malamute pup, was found on the street in the dead of winter, probably turned out of the house when it was realized how big he was going to get. Although huge (123 pounds at peak) he was a devoted ‘little brother’ to his 13 pound Westie ‘big sister’ Bon Bon (originally Bonnie Lass). I got my freshly sliced rare roast beef from the deli, sliced a little thicker than usual. And I got a can of beef au jus gravy. Plus a loaf of hearty Russian Rye. A little later this evening, I will make a couple of servings of open roast beef sandwiches drowned in hot gravy. No veggies tonight. Wolves (like dwarves) don’t eat green food! I have not decided what movies to watch tonight. Lassie 1994 is a candidate. Homeward Bound 1993 is another. Others suggest themselves as well. No ‘scary hairies’ tonight. Just snootboot stuff. A Howly Holiday to all and to all a Good Noot!

Last night, I wolfed down half a pound of rare roast beef, half a loaf of rye and a whole can of gravy and loved every bite. I decided on watching Lassie 1994 with (IMO) its supernatural connection to the boy's dead mother, plus the happiness and sometimes sadness of having a dog. And of course an all around happy ending. My old furry friends did indeed visit me in the night and I awoke happy and not sad as I sometimes do. All in all a most satisfactory Wolfenoot!
Until next year...

Did everyone celebrate Wolfenoot yesterday? I gorged on sliced London Broil on seeded rye and gravy. I also watched an old video tape I never got around to viewing Puppy Party! Cute fun.
