Unclear whether this Austrian made film is supposed to be a werewolf movie. There are hints that it could be but the creature is never called that. We never get a really good look at the beast but it might pass as a werewolf. The beast does have an interesting and unique feature that is properly foreshadowed, never explicitly spelled out but obvious from context and happens to explain a mystery. I generally like this kind of subtle approach and it works here.
The movie is a mere 66 minutes long, much of it taken up by ‘marriage on the rocks’ woes and Austrian mountain scenery. The former is nicely acted and the latter is very pretty but let’s get on with it already. There is also a sort of prologue, a silly B+W bit of fluff that happens to set the theme of the movie – monster versus lovers. Trying to fix up the marriage gone sour blues is of course the reason why the couple is in the isolated house up in the mountains where who knows what might be lurking. There are bits and pieces of horror movie elements sprinkled throughout that help keep interest up. But it is quite far into the movie before it gets serious. And even then, a good chunk of that is a drawn-out search scenario. However, it does get down and dirty near the end with some decent gore and chills.

The climax is IMO confusing. The other guy was searching for his wife for weeks. How does he suddenly know where to go and what to bring? And what the heck is it that causes that (rather poor CGI) result? All of that from what he has in his coat pocket? And his motive for planning this was…?
