Swim Fan (2002) Valentine (2001) Single White Female (1992) I never heard of Swim Fan before. Any good? Reviews are rather poor. Valentine is available for rent on Prime. Worth watching? I am not short on money. I just do not like throwing it away on garbage and getting pissed off. Ruins my day. SWF is a very good movie. Watched it a few times on cable way back.

Swim Fan is basically a Fatal Attraction knock off, but a guilty pleasure of mine. Valentine uses a plot similar to 80's slashers Prom Night and Terror Train.

I originally avoided 'watch with ads' on Vudu because my security system was often stopping the streaming because of some no-no or other, malicious attacks etc. I have now created a new Vudu ID other than Facebook and got through the movie without a problem. In some ways, Valentine is very good. Acting, dialog etc. is much better than in the typical slasher. Production values are very noticeable higher than those old slashers from the 80s. The cards were a nice touch. The body count etc. is good. But the ambiguity leaves one feeling ... odd. In the end was he justified in all of that because of how they treated him at the dance, Dorothy is the one who ruined his life, not the others. Is Kate safe? She was polite to him at the dance, but she got a card too. Also, you know from the beginning that it is going to be Jeremy so the other possibilities, raised by the extraneous killings, are clearly red herrings. IMO this detracts from the movie by making it seem too ‘arranged’. The last red herring was to me like ‘oh no you dont’. For Dorothy to have signed the cards ‘JM’ would have been just too left field. And the reconstructive surgery business is just like HUH?
In the end, the overt ‘management’ of the plot was too much.

Watched The Uninvited (1944) on TCM. Still enjoyable after many viewings. Good ghost mystery story with nice chills. Ending is a little too pat but not bad. This was the first real ghost movie, where the ghost does not turn out to be a fake or only in someone's head.
Earlier I watched Errementari: The Blacksmith and the Devil. A very dark horror fantasy. Perhaps not for everyone's taste but I loved it! This is as far as I know the only Basque (yes Basque!) horror movie ever made. English subtitles are available but the dialog is in Basque, a language I had never heard spoken before. BTW Errementari is Basque for Blacksmith.
The story takes place in early 19th century Spain against the background of a recent civil war and the ongoing oppression of the Basque people. Scary blacksmith guy, strange little girl, search for lost gold, deals with devils, devils that look like devils, good FX, good acting from what can be seen past the language barrier, good camera work and production values, nice plot slowly developed, clever twists and turns, great ending. I may watch this one again soon.

I was going to maybe watch the movie Bushwick (2017) until I read a bit about it. All sort of wild street fighting going on. I grew up in Bushwick. Don't feel like going home.

Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter (1974)
A Hammer horror that I had never gotten around to seeing. Corny and hammy but fun anyway. It flopped at the box office and it is not hard to see why. Hammer fans wanted to see something like the early Hammer Dracula films. But the mojo was not there anymore. Kronos was more like a comic book and not at all what the fans were looking for.
One big plus to this movie. It has the then 23 year old Caroline Munro in faux nude scenes. She was never really nude. It was all trickery. And the sex was only implied, never seen.

The Last Stand (2013)
Schwarzenegger actioner. Arnold is happy to be sheriff in quiet town on Arizona/Mexico border after seriously bad experience in LAPD Narcotics. Mexican drug lord on way to Federal execution center escapes from FBI custody very creatively (lots of hi-tech and the best mercenaries money can buy). The bad guy is heading for the Mexican border - through Arnold's town! Multiple car chases of rather unique flavors. Exotic weaponry on both sides. Ends up old school mano a mano. An older Schwarzenegger handles the role in a more 'mere mortal' style than say Commando, which works nicely. Good support from Forest Whittaker, Luis Guzmán and others, with a brief but delicious appearance by Harry Dean Stanton.
Great ride if you like this sort of thing.

I hear good things about Drive. VFW is very new and still in theaters right now, is it not? I will consider checking them out after my newly found current obsession - Penny Dreadful.

I watched VFW on YouTube. Did not want to blow 7 bucks on Prime without knowing what it was. Good one. Old time violent exploitation flick. Could have been made in the 70s or 80s and it seems it was intended to look like that. Lots of *ahem* old faces. I especially liked seeing The Hammer in his element with his mojo intact. I am guessing that it is going to get pulled from YouTube before long so anyone lurking in the shadows who likes this kind of thing might want to check it out soon.
