Dracula's Daughter (1936) Follow-up to Lugosi's Dracula, minus Lugosi (and Dracula, for that matter). From IMDb: "When Countess Marya Zaleska appears in London, mysterious events occur leading Dr. Von Helsing to believe the Countess must be a vampire." I particularly liked Marguerite Churchill as Janet. Also seeing a Tarzan novel on a shelf in a bookshop. I've seen all the Mummy and Creature films, save for the 'crossovers' so I really need to work on getting thru the Dracs and Franks and Invisible Folks's films before getting to those. Meanwhile, STAR WARS (1977) is now on in the background in tribute to David Prowse, who passed today. Lugosi was originally going to be in a prologue in Dracula's Daughter but that scene got dropped. Dracula is 'there' in the movie although not on camera. At the beginning, his daughter is cremating his finally dead corpse and purifying him with salt and a cross made from small sticks and cord. Do they teach this stuff in vampire school? Are Chewie and the Princess and (redeemed) Vader having a reunion party under the two suns?

Arclight mentioning a Tarzan novel reminded me of a random thought that crossed my mind a couple of days ago. You know, one of those Why did I think of that? things. It popped back into my head today after I read another post from Arclight where he mentioned that he practically learned to read with Spider-Man comics. I practically learned to read with Bomba the Jungle Boy books. There had been a series of Bomba movies and the publisher decided to put them back into print again. I read all 20. In those movies Bomba (think Tarzan lite) was played by Johnny Sheffield who had previously played Boy in the Weissmuller Tarzan movies. Which brings me to the random thought that came back. It is probably not nice to laugh at this but Johnny Sheffield - Boy/Bomba - died at the age of 79 after falling out of a tree
