Dead Before Dawn (2012) Basically a Canadian version of Zombieland. But these are a hybrid, part zombie and demon. Zemons. On Prime and Tubi. Zemon? Sounds like a hybrid zucchini/lemon

The Creature Walks Among Us (1956) Decided I should finish up the Creature trilogy. This one wasn't in 3D but at least that meant I was able to eat while watching it. A group of scientists catch the Gillman, still down in the Everglades after his escapades in 'Revenge of the Creature.' During the capture, the Creature is seriously burned, damaging his gills. The scientists are able to fix his lungs enough so that he can live on land, but he'll never be able to breathe in the water again. They take him to San Francisco where he stays relatively docile as long as he's not exposed to violence. Of course, violence ensues and he breaks free. A definite departure for the series, focusing far more on the human cast and their interactions. The Gillman is truly sympathetic in this one, made more so by the 'humanizing' of his appearance. It is obvious way before the 'rampage' scene that the "Creature" of the title isn't necessarily the Gillman. I remember seeing that in the movies. Sad ending.

One Cut of the Dead (2018) Film crew is shooting a low budget zombie film. Then real zombies show up and attack them. That is one strange movie.

Salem's Lot (1979) The original TV two parter, not to be confused with the ill-advisedly chopped up theatrical version. Good as always. Although I still think he was not the best choice, I cut David Soul more slack this time around. It has been a long time since Starsky and Hutch. He did OK and did not feel as out of place as I remembered him. Young Lance Kerwin as the kid was great, IMO upstaging Soul. Geoffrey Lewis is always so good and here he was terrific, both before, during and after changing. James Mason in an atypical role as a villain worked fine. An old school professional actor effortlessly making a character real. Having the vampire (Reggie Nalder) be the hideous Nosferatu type instead of the Lugosi Dracula as in the book I still think is an excellent idea. It works better on the screen that way. I think I now understand why Barlow the vampire sought out real estate agent Crockett (Fred Willard). Crockett was useful in the past but now being caught with his pants down (ahem) he would no longer be useful, being forced to leave town. I always liked Bonnie Bedelia no matter what she played. Having her be a pursuer instead of just dying as in the book worked nicely. Elisha Cook was memorable as always, a performance that sticks in your mind even if you do not know why. Being a TV movie and probably blowing most of their budget on name brand actors, there was probably only pocket change left for FX. Yet those clearly cheapie scenes still stick in my mind. Hollywood today would probably blow a fortune on each of them and totally miss the point. The kid vampire floating at the window scenes with the fog are really scary because they are so simple and you are not distracted by anything but a young boy vampire is floating outside the window surrounded by creepy fog and he wants to get in!The box slowly creeping forward inside the truck. Budget? Maybe $10, Effect? Holy Sh!t! The box being found in the basement smashed apart from the inside. Hollywood would have it blow apart in slomo with colors and stuff and dramatic sound effects and music and the vampire come out. Better the simple way. Like: Its out! Where is it?!?! Did I mention I like this movie? One hokey thing I did not care for. The woman vampire sees this cross made out of tongue depressors and disappears? And of course the dog dies. But why? In the book the dog had ‘second eyes’, white spots above the eyes, that can see the spirit world. But no spots in the movie.

Shark Night (2011)
Lots of shark action and people getting eaten. Good kill count. Creepy guys involved, Bur something was just wrong with this movie. Over and above bad acting. Not sure exactly what but it was just annoying and I was happy when it was over. Maybe part of that was that I could not really care about any of the characters.

The scene when the older Glick brother comes for Mark is one of my faves of this version. Lance was so good, perfect balance of fear, sadness and strong will. Bonnie Bedelia wasn't gven much to do IMHO, plus zero chemstry with David Soul. Liked the dynamic between Ben and Susan more in the cable remake. Susan (now a vampire) still having some semblance of humanity, made their final scene more sad.

Edge of Tomorrow (2014) Thanks to www.hamiltonbook.com/, another favorite online retailer (no affiliations or commissions here, I just like 'em) I added another 3D Blu-ray to my collection. Fun Tom Cruise movie - basically 'Groundhog Day' set during an alien invasion. I've seen it a time or two before so it was worth the $8 to add it to my ever-growing piles of movies. Still feel it would've done better in theaters with the original title, "Live Die Repeat." Or maybe even the title of the manga it was based on, "All You Need Is Kill." As it is, they use Live Die Repeat so prominently on the disc covers that it looks like that's the title anyway.

Dracula's Daughter (1936)
Follow-up to Lugosi's Dracula, minus Lugosi (and Dracula, for that matter).
From IMDb: "When Countess Marya Zaleska appears in London, mysterious events occur leading Dr. Von Helsing to believe the Countess must be a vampire."
I particularly liked Marguerite Churchill as Janet. Also seeing a Tarzan novel on a shelf in a bookshop.
I've seen all the Mummy and Creature films, save for the 'crossovers' so I really need to work on getting thru the Dracs and Franks and Invisible Folks's films before getting to those.
Meanwhile, STAR WARS (1977) is now on in the background in tribute to David Prowse, who passed today.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Yes, again. What can I say? Spider-Man has been my favorite comic book character since kindergarten (I pretty much learned how to read with him) and this is my favorite Spider-Man movie. I'd intended on just having it playing for background noise but I had to sit and watch it again.
