Just finished watching the last episode of the last season (so far) of Stranger Things. Season 4 has started filming this month.
This is the best stuff I have seen in quite a while. Everyone involved did it exactly right, especially my long time cherie Winona Ryder. FX are remarkably good and actually scary. The plotting is good, the back and forth interleaving of story threads very good and the humor in the midst of terror just right.
Now that they are not in Hawkins anymore, I can see a good opportunity for expanding the horizons but also the danger of blowing it. Please let it be the former!
Anyone else watch this?

Oohh...yeah. The first season was the first (and still only) season of anything I've ever binge-watched in its entirety during one night. It certainly helps that I'm an 80s kid so it's all pretty intimately familiar. I tell the younger folk I work with that that's just exactly what things were like when I was growing up. Heck, I even got in a little bit of trespassing on government property and hiding from the Security Police. Also love the VHS cases used for the Blu-ray releases and hope the third season follows suit when it's released. I admit, I don't remember those shorts the guys keep getting stuck in being quite so prominent but I've been a jeans and t-shirts guy my entire life so maybe I wasn't paying attention (at least, not to the *guys'* legs)

I admit, I don't remember those shorts the guys keep getting stuck in being quite so prominent but I've been a jeans and t-shirts guy my entire life so maybe I wasn't paying attention (at least, not to the *guys'* legs) I did not binge watch any of the seasons of Stranger Things, but I usually did 3 or 4 episodes a day in between movies, posting and the intrusions of RL. Jeans and T-shirt? I was the age of the kids in Stranger Things in the late 50s and early 60s. T-shirts were common in the summer but despite the rarity of AC, none of the guys wore shorts except at the beach. Guys who were really guys did not wear shorts. Girls often wore Short Shorts, a silly but popular song of the late 50s. Either that or Black Slacks, another song of that era. (Anybody know what made that song special?)
The area I grew up in was surrounded by cemeteries. The summer nighttime hangout/makeout site in my high school years was in a particular spot in a sort of vale deep inside a very old cemetery, with distant streetlights just about invisible. Worn tilted gravestones and the like, sometimes even glowing if the moon were right. Out of sight and hearing of the 'authorities' was the real point. But the ooooo-WEEEEE-ooooo factor was part of the experience as well. A little taste of the Upside Down, maybe?
