about 10 yrs ago i saw some lights similar to shooting stars falling STRAIGHT down to earth, ive always wondered what they were, the year after that my mom bought me a ghost book of the midlands and it had that exact area saying that these lights had been seen before. now i cant say i believe in ghosts or that i dont it's just something i dont really think about. anyways 10yrs later and i go outside for a cigarette and what do i see.... about 60ft away from me a light (about the size of a football/soccer ball) falling very slowly to the ground it's driving me mad as i seem to be the only person that see's them and why the 10yr gap? it freaks me out but when i google these things i just get ufo's and ghost orbs popping up, i really would like an answer for these things so if anyone ever comes across a good site or has experienced anything like this please let me know! sorry for the long thread lol

You could try getting hold of a copy of the Encyclopedia of Ghosts and Spirits and see if any of the accounts in there match yours. You could also try and find out if there is a local paranormal group or a parapsycologist in the area you could speak to.
I've never seen anythinf like that but i do have a strange tail of my own. I have no idea how old i was, anywhere between 9 & 16 i think. My mate was leaving my house to go home and she had to cross a bit of a field next to my house in order to get to hers. It was also a rule that we watched her go across just in case. Anyway i'm stood at my door watching her go across the field when my attention is caught by something moving further up the field. I looked across expecting to see a person walking their dog or something instead i see a long oval shaped gray misty object floating slowly across the field. As i stood watching it suddenly started moving faster and headed i the direction my friend had gone. I slammed my front door shut and headed to the phone to make sure my mate got home safely. She'd seen nothing and since it was a nice clear winter night we just couldn't explain what we'd seen. Anyway i put it to the back of my mind for ages until during a family holiday in North Wales we were driving back from the pub we'd had our tea at and one of us (can't remember who now) made a comment about how creepy the woods looked and that they'd bet they were haunted. So that promted my dad to tell us a story of something that had happened to him when he was a kid. At the back of where out chemist now stands it used to be a wood (there's bugger all there now but houses) and him and his mates used to play hide and seek there. Anyway one particular day he was "it" and he counted to 100 and set off to try and find his friends. As he came round this corner he was confronted by a large long oval mist like object that was floating above the ground. Again another clear day. He stood there frozen for a moment and then the shape moved towards him and he screamed and ran like hell all the way home! So obviously i told him about my experience. We'd never discussed it before and it seemed so strange that we would both have a similar experience when we were children. I believe completely in ghosts, i always have. There are stories in my village of a grey lady but they been told and embellished so many times that no-one can remember what the original story was.

labambabenitez, what was the weather like at the time? and just before/after?
I'm asking cause there is a phenominon called ball lightening, which sounds very similar in description to what you described - though not exactly the same.
As for supernatural causes there could be all kinds of possibilities, From ghostslights to fairylights to aliens. With the limited information it'd be really difficult to form any kind of definative cause for these lights.
What kind of environment where they in when you saw them? fields? trees? in the road? I ask because fairylights are associated with rural settings more than urban ones.
If your interested in finding more information, I'd agree with Werewolf about trying to contact the local paranormal groups and see if they have any records of similar events. You could also research the history of the place where you saw them, incase that gives you any clues too.
I remember reading/hearing something about such lights being seen in other places, the word "tor" comes to mind as something to do with the locations I've heard them being. But it was a long time ago, and any details have been lost in my soup of a mind.

You are not alone labambabenitez. I've seen them three times in seven years, after I moved to a small town. I suspect it's because it has less light-pollution than the big city I used to live in. Or maybe it isn't the same. Did your lights look like they were one fire? Because mine did, and I think it is probably meteorites or space "junk" burning up in the atmosphere. But like you nobody else sees them, and my brother think I'm going crazy.

Okay. Just don't dance on graves and we'll be fine. And if you do, start up a thread about it, maybe we can help. But... Fool, dance on my grave and none other. For if you do, Moon to Moon, ashes to dust, remember this throughout the month. For the sin you commit, They'll do their best, til' they lay you at rest. You've been warned.

Oh come on. You haven't seen "The Gravedancers"? It had this poem called "The Gravedancers Lament", and I couldn't remember the actual poem, so i mixed up what i could remember (very little), as a warning to everyone. If I seemed to be mocking you, it was completley unintentional, I'm just warning the world.

We didn't think you were mocking us. We just thought you'd fallen off the sanity wagon.
Never heard of The Gravedancers.

They don't give the full Lament, but they give the part I remember. And If you want freaky, see this movie you will piss your pants. But I digress. The stuff your seeing is probably Aliens trying to contact you because your half alien (I saw this weird Alien program a few weeks back, where this guy was seeing the exact same thing.)

Oh, it's good, but scary as hell. I'm terrified to death of ghosts, and I couldn't sleep for two weeks after watching this movie.
