Although I caught on to the implications of the title way back when I first saw the poster for the movie, I still enjoyed how they unfolded the plot.

Cry_Wolf (2005)
Covoluted whodunit, set at a Prep School.
This one gets a lot of hate.
Far from perfect, but I enjoyed it.

Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Okay...ponied up for a month of HBOMax.
This movie, to its credit, doesn't worry much about trying to be anything other than an excuse for the two title characters to duke it out. It knows the whole thing is kinda silly and while it's not a straight-up comedy, it doesn't take itself too seriously.
And like most of the similar movies that have come before, you're not going to miss a whole lot by fast-forwarding past the talkie bits to get to the monster-fighting bits.
Kyle Chandler (and Millie Bobbie Brown) are back as their characters from the previous Godzilla movie, which also makes this Chandler's second run-in with a giant monkey named Kong after his role in Peter Jackson's version.
Would've been cool to see it on the big screen with big sound (and maybe even 3D) but even before the 'Rona hit, our only theater closed down so I don't know if I would've taken the road-trip to see this anyway.

Great entry from Argento. While good production value and stylish horror was already nothing new in 1977, it was a surprise to get this level of good from a relative unknown like Argento. Although already an experienced filmmaker with a cult-like following, he was mostly known for blood and guts giallo stuff. While Suspiria does not disappoint in that area it is smarter and more sophisticated than one normally expects from the genre. While Argento's earlier works are definitely yummy, in Suspiria he reached the level of genuinely delicious.

Finished the Universal Frankenstein series. Here is #4 out of 8
Ghost of Frankenstein (1942)
Karloff had declined to do any more Frankenstein movies, being up in his forties by now plus having broken his hip in a fall in the last one and preferring roles where he could do more conventional acting. Instead, Lon Chaney Jr. was cast in the role of the Monster, with his acting background including horror roles, the most impressive being The Wolf Man. Adding to the fun, Bela Lugosi would reprise his role of Ygor from the previous entry in the series, Son of Frankenstein.
‘Ghost’ starts out well, with the Monster being accidentally freed from the now solidified sulfur pit in which he ‘died’ in the previous movie. Ygor, played creepily by Lugosi, is re-united with his friend. In an iconic scene, the Monster is up on a hill and is struck by lightning, which brings him back to full strength. When Classics Comics did Frankenstein, the cover artwork was very reminiscent of this scene. It was retained for the reissue by Classics Illustrated.
The movie is fine up to that point but it then proceeds to slide downhill. The Monster retrieving the child’s ball from the roof top and killing anyone who tried to stop him is just too corny for words. And for me, the brain switch plot element just goes against the grain. Even the presence of pros like Cedric Hardwicke and Lionel Atwill plus scream queen Evelyn Ankers cannot pull it out of the fire, although they do try. If the movie makers had put more effort and intelligence into coming up with better ideas, this could have been a cool movie.
Chaney does make a physically impressive Monster, though.
More to come when I get to it.

Presumed Innocent (1990) Solid legal thriller and adaptation of a great novel. This is also on Tubi right now. They have a great collection of films, to stream for free right now. Harrisom Ford wore a horrible haircut in this one.
