Presumed Innocent (1990) Solid legal thriller and adaptation of a great novel. This is also on Tubi right now. They have a great collection of films, to stream for free right now. Harrisom Ford wore a horrible haircut in this one. Yep, Tubi is definitely one of my favorite streaming sites.

Universal Frankenstein series #5 out of 8
Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943)
There had been plans to make Frankenstein Meets the Mummy with Lon Chaney Jr. playing both roles. He had in fact previously played both roles but in separate movies. A poster had been made for this movie with Chaney in Frankie guise and a stunt double in the bandages. Subsequently it was realized that with the amount of time needed for makeup, such a movie was logistically near impossible. You would think they would have realized from the start that having the same actor play two characters who are supposed to interact is not such a good idea.
The success of The Wolf Man and the appeal of the sympathetic Larry Talbot character sounded a lot better. Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man sounded a lot better. But who to play the Frankenstein Monster? Lugosi got chosen. Lugosi had originally been chosen to play the Monster in the 1931 Frankenstein but the makeup test made James Whale laugh hysterically. And so Karloff became a household name.
The plot in this movie IMO works a lot better than in ‘Ghost’ the previous entry, Larry Talbot is brought back to life by would-be grave robbers who chose the wrong phase of the moon to open the coffin. His alter ego Wolfie kills a few people before Larry fully recovers his memory (that nasty head wound that killed him, remember) and he sets out to Europe to find Maleva, the old gypsy from the first Wolf Man movie. Maria Ouspenskaya does great Gypsy in both movies, reciting that “even a man who is pure in heart” poem in a voice like an old Romanian car trying to start on a cold morning.
Larry seeks a permanent death with no more furry business. Maleva tips him off to Dr. Frankenstein who had the power of life, perhaps he also knew the secret of death. And so Larry set off to find Dr, F, who unfortunately is dead, But he finds the (very weak) Monster instead plus the Frankenstein notes courtesy of the Doctors daughter and also a curious scientist. Much fun ensues including (naturally) the scientist who is a little too curious. Fun ensues.
Since it featured two kinds of monster, this was originally shot as a 99 minute type movie. But it was cut to the more typical 73 minute length to improve revenue expectations. Theaters could get more showings into a day. Unless it was something with high ticket price potential, theaters did not want long movies. Lugosi’s performance is usually panned but it is said that his good parts were left on the cutting room floor to allow the bigger star (Chaney) more undivided screen time.
Some of the lost footage would have restored the connection with Ghost of Frankenstein. At the end of that one, the Monster has Ygor’s brain but is blind because of mismatched blood types, In ‘Meets’ that is never mentioned although it is clear that the Monster is blind although never mentioned. It is a bit of irony that the Monster has Ygor’s brain, again never mentioned, and Lugosi had played Ygor.
Next on the agenda, the ‘monster mash’ entries.
While typing on my laptop on the couch as I often do, I leave the TV on low to entertain the mutt. Otherwise, she will read over my shoulder and try to make corrections. Earlier I was distracted from my typing by a familiar voice. I looked up and there was Vincent Price on The Brady Bunch, playing an evil character of course.

More on Tubi...
The Last Seduction (1994)
Studio really did Linda Fiorentino dirty, she probably would receive an Oscar nom/Lead Actress.
Had they not dumped this film on cable and released it theatrically.

Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Took me a couple of sessions to get thru it (I mean, it's four freaking hours long!) but get thru it I did.
I'm one that, even before Man of Steel, didn't really see Snyder as the guy to head up DC's attempt at a superhero universe and this didn't change my mind.
I guess this is a case of "if you like this sort of thing then this is the sort of thing you'll like."

Dracula (1979) Taking Lives (2004) Angeline Jolie as an FBI Profiler who goes to Montreal, to help capture a serial killer. The Langella / Olivier Dracula is a classic. Taking Lives sounds very familiar, both the title and the plot but I do not remember having actually seen it. Not sure why.
