Tom Clancy's Without Remorse (2021)
New Amazon movie on Prime.
Have to admit, it didn't really grab me for some reason. Not sure I could put my finger on why. Could very well be I'm just tired from overtime and one-day weekends. I like Michael B. Jordan and he was good in this. I certainly won't mind if they continue and get Rainbow Six on screen, as I really dug those games when they came out.

SK's The Night Flier (1997) The Night Stalker (1972) Pourquoi nous destestent ils? (2012) Aka Why Do They Hate Us? Very odd French FFH film. Dracula A.D. 1972 Taste the Blood of Dracula (1970) Ah,the Nights Flier and Stalker - both very good choices. Somewhat related, I recently lucked upon a copy of Leslie H. Whitten's PROGENY OF THE ADDER, which is strongly suspected in some circles as being the basis for Jeff Rice's THE NIGHT STALKER. (So strongly that Whitten started a lawsuit but apparently it got dropped fairly quickly). Whitten also wrote MOON OF THE WOLF, the basis for the 1972 TV movie starring David Janssen.

Trying to finish up old business
House of Frankenstein (1944)
A monster mashup, with the Mad Scientist (Karloff), the hunchback assistant (J. Carrol Naish), Dracula (John Carradine), the Wolf Man (Chaney of course) and the Frankenstein Monster (Glenn Strange). Karloff and Naish turn in workmanlike performances but the roles are too hackneyed to excite that much interest. Carradine does a decent Dracula but is not given all that much to work with. He is killed off early (sunlight again) before the other monsters show up.
In a semblance of continuity with Frankenstein/Wolf Man, Talbot and the F-monster are found frozen under the castle and they get thawed and Talbot is revived. He does his angst thing well enough, gets to kill somebody and a pretty girl falls in love with him. Too bad he mortally wounds her but she kills him, permanently or at least until the next movie, in the prescribed manner that we never heard of before – a silver bullet through the heart fired by someone who loves him.
Speaking of having too little to do, Glenn Strange as the F-guy finally gets revived, kills the hunchback and sinks in quicksand along with Karloff.
Bottom line: Enough pros delivering what their limited roles call for to make it a passable time waster but no classic.
House of Dracula (1945)
Another monster mashup. Dr. Edelman is a popular guy. Both Dracula (Carradine again) and Larry Talbot (Chaney of course) want him to cure them of their respective conditions. This is theoretically a sequel to House of Frankenstein. Frankie played again by Glenn Strange is found with the skeleton of Karloff’s character. But no explanation is given for Drac and Wolfie still being alive. In an attempt at originality, I guess, the hunchback assistant is a girl.
In a rather confused sequence of events, they try to kill Dracula by poisoning the blood transfusions they are using to cure him. But he reverses the flow and makes Edelman into a monster. Drac then makes off with his granddaughter (?) who he wants to put the bite on. She is saved with the sunlight trick again. Talbot gets cured by brain surgery (huh?) and the F Monster finally wakes up and wreaks havoc. There are also irate villagers and an Inspector Kemp like character involved. The Monster get killed in a convenient lab fire. The movie uses footage from Ghost of Frankenstein for that. Everybody ends up dead except Larry (now cured) and the granddaughter.
Bottom line: A poor entry in the series kept afloat by Carradine and Chaney each doing pretty good stuff but otherwise a B- movie. BTW they both have mustaches.

The Children's Hour (1961) Notes on A Scandal (2006) I remember The Children's Hour. Powerful movie dealing with what was then an unmentionable topic. Although I have not seen this for many many years, I remember several scenes with great clarity, especially Hepburn walking off at the end, pride intact.

King Kong (1976)
Picked up the new Blu-Ray from Shout! Factory.
Still on overtime so technically it was just on for background noise but I did find myself stopping and watching. You can debate actual "quality" all you want but I've always enjoyed it. So much so that I legit never realized it was over two hours long until just recently. I'll be sitting down to actually watch the three hour TV version sometime soon I hope.
I guess now I need to see if King Kong Lives (1986) is available anywhere...

The Courier (2019)
Another Olga Kurylenko action flick.
She plays a motorcycle courier in London. Unfortunately for her, she gets caught up in the middle of a plan to assassinate the only witness in the trial of a ruthless gangster/slum lord played by Gary Oldman. Unfortunately for Oldman's team of hitmen, she wasn't always just a courier.
On Amazon Prime (and Hulu, I do believe).

The Turn of the Screw (1992)
Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021)
Enjoyed this one for what it is, a straightforward, fast paces action thriller/neo-western.
Not on par with Taylor Sheridan's previous work, but still worth a look.
