Rowan Atkinson can play goofy, somewhat-dimwitted characters like Mr. Bean and Enrico Pollini (from "Rat Race"), but can also do a less slapstick style like in "Black Adder" and "The Thin Blue Line." He sort of combined the two in "Johnny English."
I haven't seen "Keeping Mum" or "Not the 9 O'Clock News," so I can't comment on either of those.

*basks in the randomness*
I kind of like him in either role, the well-meaning idiot characters or the articulate anti-hero characters. He does both very well. "Not the 9 o'clock News" was a classic sketch comedy show (of which there are few). He played both types of character in that.

In keeping mum he plays a more straight type of character, though still with his skill in being funny just by standing there The humour in Keeping Mum is less jokes/foolary and more of the black kind. What i found interesting in Blackadder was the swap in characterisation between Blackadder and Baldric form the 1st season to the others (in the first season blackadder was the idiot and baldric the more intelligent (for want of a better word) of the two).

I can't really vote because I'm a BIG Rowan Atkinson fan, and I think his great strenght lies is that he can do Mr. Bean stuff, which is universally enjoyable, and the Blackadder stuff, which is mostly intelectual (correctly spelled?) humor. This ability makes him the truly amazing artist that he is, and it keeps on astonishing me. Check out "Keeping Mum"...he's mostly playing a bumbling cute little man, and in one scene he switches to a serious piece of drama (bed room scene). FAB STUFF! I love the man to much to participate in this poll, and he has seriously influenced me as a person (not kidding). Don't get me wrong, great poll and I don't damn those who did vote to hell or something bottom line probadly is... Mr Bean and Black adder: both Rowan right?

I'm not saying one's bad and one's good, I'm just asking which you'd prefer to watch if you had to choose. Of course he's good at both.
The main reason this poll idea occurred to me was because it seems Atkinson's more famous in the States for being Mr. Bean, and I was wondering how it was in Europe. Of course, I base all of my impressions of other countries on a few people on a message board.

As I said great poll and I'm not saying one's bad or good either, just gave my reason for not voting Rowan Atkinson as a werewolf how cool would that be?

Actually, I don't usually like seeing actors I recognize play werewolves, or super heroes for that matter. I like it better when an actor I don't know plays a werewolf or a super hero (or a werewolf super hero, but that hasn't happened yet unless you count Michael in "Underworld"), and then I know him/her from that role.
But that's just me.

I have to say i've never been a Mr Bean fan. I never really understood the appeal but then a lot of my friends are huge fans so each to their own. I did recall seeing a routine he once did where he was playing a waiter in an indian resturant trying to take an order from a load of drunks!

The Mr Bean thing used to work OK when it first started as the short films. I remember the one he did at a film premier waiting in line to meet royalty where he is practicing his hand shake and bow. That was quite funny. It's just basically just one gag with build up and pay off.
Couldn't stand the longer ones and I only managed 5 mins of the first movie - yuck!

I enjoyed the first Mr. Bean movie. But I liked the Garfield movie. I seem to have a habit of enjoying movies based on short works that somehow are able to be drawn out into films. Maybe I just applaud them for being able to create a plot that can last 90 minutes, even if it isn't a good one.
