I was surprised to read that Neil Marshall didn't actually mind the changed ending. If it was my movie I'd be screaming at them for not only ruining the ending, but for stripping a whole layer of meaning away from the title. I guess he figured there was enough good stuff in there anyway.

The US ending misses off the last 30 seconds or so, rendering it slightly daft, illogical but less downbeat. Me, I like downbeat endings. And 'Brazil' was exactly what I thought of when watching the Descent! I like werewolf's idea that the survivor girl would still be down there as some sort of savage, woulb be a bit weird if she'd evolved to live in the dark tho since evolution tends to take thousands if not millions of years! Me too. I always presumed the movies title had two meanings - the actual descent underground and the descent in to madness. Makes perfect sense in the context of the movie fo her to stay trapped underground as a mad, feral creature.

Just cause you asked Werewolf:
Although Marshall has no plans to direct the film, he tells Bloody-Disgusting.com, "A treatment is in the works, I’m not directing it, but I will oversee it and want to be a part of it."
Marshall received the first draft of the film in late July 2006, with no directors or cast in mind. He has made it clear that this film won't be a "rehashing of the first" and that he wants this film to incorporate more of the feeling of claustrophobia like that of a particular scene in the previous film. Marshall tells Bloody-Disgusting.com about new ideas for the film, "The monsters they can deal with, and a bit of the claustrophobia, they can deal with, but the combination is definitely something we want to incorporate that into the sequel, by putting the monster and the girls in a really tight spot."
Not much, but at least gives some info.

Dog Soldiers is in my top 5 best werewolf movies ever made. Not only was it scary, but the writing was excellent, the werewolves looked great, and the ending was very good. I wish that more movies of this quality this would be made.

I wish they'd hurry up and decide whether or not they're making a sequel!

The news is that Neil Marshall is having nothing to do with it and neither is Kevin MsKidd so for now the movie is pretty much dead in the water as originally it should have featured Kevin's surviving character fighting the Ryan's new werewolf squad. Unless they recast the Cooper character or have the werewolves meet another bunch of poor unfortunates i'm guessing the movie won't be made. I suppose they could have it where the army send another squad in looking for Cooper's men and they meet the Ryan werewolves but for the moment you should just consider the movie permanently on hold i'm afraid.

Well according to Bloody Disgusting.com DS2: Fresh Meat is still being made but is not due for release until 2011 and will start both Kevin McKidd and Liam Cunningham? This is the link. It may just be wishful thinking but still......... www.bloody-disgusting.com/film/507
