Yes as far as ive heard they are. But perhaps this one will stay more true to the original.

dawn of the dead did not need a remake. Any of john carpenters movies did not need remakes. The fly does not need a second remake. Remakes don't bother me. Nothing needs a remake, but sometimes remakes are as good as (The Thing) or better than (Oceans 11) the originals. I also love the rubbish (so far)Carpenter remakes as they just highlight what brilliant films the originals are. Sometimes I prefer the idea of a remake or reboot than just another sequel. Thank god for the Batman Begins & Casino Royale reboots and I much prefer the idea of a new Rob Zombie take on Halloween than just another lame sequel. And it's not as if we won't always have the originals .

Yeah, sometimes remakes can be a good thing. But there's so many pointless ones right now that I've grown to start ignoring them.

Maybe the new "Teen Wolf" should have Michael J. Fox in a cameo as a father or uncle to explain why the girl is a werewolf. And Tom Welling as a werewolf hunter. I dunno, it could work.

I'm expecting it to be aimed at a U cert (ie a family film). I'd be surprised if they went for a 12 or 15 cert, as I don't think today's teens would relate to the film - depending on how much they change. To me Teenwolf was very much a film of it's time.
I just don't see todays teens accepting the premise that a whole school / community would accept and befriend a wolfman (or in this case a wolfwoman).

What a cruel world we live in :-( I guess it wouldn't be in the realm of a comedy, but they could easily create a dichotomy of people who hate the werewolf vs. her sympathizers. I think I'm already doing that in the book I'm writing that I haven't actually written any of yet.

Ah, but you don't mind that the 1st remake of the Fly was made, correct? And do you discount John Carpender's The Thing as being just another unnecessary remake? Sometimes remakes are a good thing. Just don't let Disney do it, and I've no doubt this female Teen Wolf could be a new and interesting film that happens to share some themes with the original, but does not mimic it too much or throw the whole thing out the window in favor of a recognizable name.

And hey, do we know of anyone attached to this project aside from Welling?

Thinking about what you said about the fly remake and the thing remake.
I guess I don't mind remakes of really old films. Say films over 40 years old. A remake should have a reason beyond *lets cash in on the previous films name and success by redoing it".
