Here's an interview with Michael Mongillo concerning his upcoming movie/comic that deals with everyone's favorite Russian werewolf tribe, the Neurians: tinyurl.com/yqjcx9

Ah, yes, of course, the Neurians. Everyone knows about the Neurians.
(What the F*** is a "Neurian?")
The concept art looks nice. I presume the two main characters are also "Neurians," or at least Rurik is. Is that a boy's name or a girl's? None of the names strike me as Slavic at all.

I found these references to the name.
Herodotus - "It seems that the Neuri are sorcerers, if one is to believe the Scythians and the Greeks established in Scythia; for each Neurian changes himself, once in the year, into the form of a wolf, and he continues in that form for several days, after which he resumes his former shape."
Pomponius Mela - "There is a fixed time for each Neurian, at which they change, if they like, into wolves, and back again into their former condition."

From what I read of another interview I found, This film will remove nearly all the "folklore" from the werewolves that are commonly associated with them. Forget the full moon, turning if bitten, etc etc. Their a race, not a curse or disease.
Also, looks like Rurik is the Neurian, not joy. Seems the other Neurians are after him for his abbandoning them (apparent the Neurians are dwindling in numbers). Oh, and they eat human fleash as a way to prolong/extend their lives.
Seems they are going to be able to change at will (or possibly automatically each night - not sure about which it'll be in the film).

So, another preternatural Romeo and Juliet. I'm fine with that. It works most of the time...as far as I know.
