A bit of an update on the upcoming animated werewolf tv series called Guardians of Luna. Seems it's had a bit of an overhaul to make the characters younger and to introduce more humour. Hmmm...we'll see www.aintitcool.com/node/35270

I'm part-way through the article. I'm looking forward to seeing how the tone of the series comes across based on this quote: The thing that disappoints me is the change in art style. Have a look: BEFORE: AFTER: I mean, it looks great if you love Anime, but to me, it looks too much like Witch Hunter Robin or Hellsing. Nothing against those shows, it's just that I was hoping GoL would have its own style and not look like a copy of something else, especially an Anime style that seems to be everywhere these days. There's also the fact that I prefer American-style cartoons to Anime most of the time, especially the Batman and Superman animated series. I like simplicity. That may just be me, though. I'm still gonna watch it.

I agree, I prefer the original style. That was similar to Bruce Timm's animated DC shows, whereas the new style looks like one of those japanese Xbox RPGs that sit around all day taking up valuable shelf space at Game.

I don't mind the anime look for a cartoon. Especially if it's really well done and aimed at grown ups, rather then the kids versions (like pokimon)
From the pictures, I think they should have had a little darker look, the werewolves a little more "grrrr" and not as much "oouh an't cha a cute one"
But I'm guessing as they did it this way to appeal to as broad an audiance as they could. Lets hope they don't go so broad it becomes bland. Lets face it they want to get the kids market as well as the adult one. So don't expect bites, or claw wounds showing. And I just hope they don't try to have a "moral" behind each episode, as a way of teaching it to kids.

I think they look like something that should be on CBBC!

Yup, it does have the style of artwork for something that would be shown at 4.30pm (that's in the middle of kids tv here in england) on a week day, or maybe even as part of one of those old saturday morning TV Kids shows that used to run for a few hours, like Get Freash, No 73, Swapshop, Going Live, etc etc. Like they did with Centurions or batman - sorry don't know of any non UK ones to list

They used to show a block of action-based cartoons in the middle of the day, the main constant being Dragon Ball Z. That's a much older Anime style than Guardians, though. I would say that this artwork looks similar to the sort of Anime that Cartoon Network shows at night, like Witch Hunter Robin or Ghost in the Shell.

Oh, no. No, no. I loathe the new style. It looks awful, like Furry art.

Not sure if I have any questions I can think of. From all that I've been able to find, it definately looks to be aimed at kids. The robots have stun lasers, the heros get "mystic weapons" that one gives to the others as he meets them. Shame about that, I'd much rather have seen them using claws and teeth in fights than some mystic sword or axe or stick or whatever. I'm expecting the violence to be at about the same level as the old gargoyles series. So no deaths or blood. And if they do have sharp weapons, than they'll never hit anything living with them or if they do it'll scratch, or break some equipment their wearing. So I'm hoping the storylines will be more than 1 monster 1 episode, but more an ongoing plot that picks up where the previous one leaves off. And that the characters will be interesting and not too steriotypical. I supose could ask: How realistic will it be? What age group is it aimed at primarily? Are the werewolves going to have typical werewolve vulnerabilities/resistances?

What are the odds of the original pilot episode (with the previous animation style) being released on a DVD with the rest of the first season, provided it survives that long?
