Saw Blood and chocolate over the weekend. Was pleasently surprised! Found it to be an interesting film, and thought the transformations worked ok (to say it was just glowing). I think what sold the film for me, was the location and the supporting cast. The werewolf pack was great. I liked their reactions to the head werewolf, and their general mannerisms and behaviour. That location is always such a wonderful backdrop for films I think. It isn't a horror film, not at all. Not that I hold that against it As I think the film works well when watched for what it is.

Rented B & C awhile ago......loved the wolfpack and scenery of the film. Could not stand the whole Dawson's Creek teen melodrama BS that was part of it.
It was a popcorn renter...then again, I did just get a copy of The Werewolf of Washington, so my taste in wolfie films runs all over the place!

I didn't mind the teen melodrama aspect, but I'm not sure why, because I don't usually watch those kinds of shows. Maybe that's why; maybe I've not been over-exposed to it. My only problem with the film was that Vivian only changed once, making it almost forgettable that she was a werewolf at all. A wolf fight at the end might've been nice. But I say that about every movie

I guess I didn't like the teen melodrama because it's a thing of the past for me!!! I have a "teenager" in my German Shepherd who just turned 2...he's enough to handle at this stage of his life!!!

I don't really see a difference between the teen melodrama and the kind of stuff that happens in "Smallville" or "Supernatural." But I watch none of the above.

Watched it online ( ahahahaha take that society!) in decent quality. Didn't think much of it but I did like the ending change. In the book her bf stabs her and she turns into a half wolf half human ( wait...isn't that still a werewolf?) and no one loves her except Gabriel the jerk and she has to go out with him.
Boo.
I thought the transformations were a bit lazy.

Well, I hope you like it, too. If not, no biggie. I fully expect to add "B&C" to my list of movies I like that no one else does, along with "Van Helsing," "Texas Chainsaw Massacre (newest)" and "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen." Don't feel bad...I tend to like movies a lot of other people don't like either. Haha. In any case I'm thinking about renting Blood and Chocolate sometime. It sounded good to me.

Another necro... Finally got around to seeing Blood and Chocolate. First of all, forget the book. Other than the basic idea of what a loup-garou is like and coincidence of several names, the movie has very little to do with the book. Much of the criticism I have read of this movie is based on the radical differences from the book. Is the 1931 Frankenstein a bad movie because it differs radically from the novel? IMO it would not have been possible to very faithfully make the Blood and Chocolate book into a movie because so much of it is about what is happening inside Vivien's head. About the movie then... Not bad. Reasonable plot with its own internal logic, good acting all around even from the 'second string players', non-embarrassing dialog, good camera work, decent action sequences, nice wolves There have been some who complained about the ending but it seems to me that this was the proper fulfillment of the film's logic. Despite all that, I cannot give this anything better than 'not bad'. I never really engaged with any of the characters. Not sure why. But even when Vivien kills the capo di tutti capi of all loup-garou to save her human love I did not have much feeling about it either way. Still an entertaining way to spend an hour and a half.
